Khari sat outside, looking around. Her beautiful gray and red coat was glossy and clean. Her amber eyes darted around until they fell upon Leafa who was sitting near her, cleaning her golden fur. Khari scoffed slightly and looked around.

Avikii padded into the den site, the slopes that lead to it had made him rather tired. He carried a single hare in his jaws, clenched tight so it wouldn't be dropped. Prey was already starting to disappear, and yet it was only early autumn. He let out a sigh through the mouthful of fur, padding over to where they stored their prey, gently setting it down.
As he lifted his head to turn around, he noticed Leafa, and a new face holding a judgmental wolf. It was the pup that was brought in merely days ago, found abandoned out in the plains. He hadn't given the youngster a proper welcome yet, and figured he would use this time to do just that. The lean alpha made his way over to the she-pup, stopping in front of her. "Welcome young one, I see you're growing accustomed to pack life?" He asked her, a soft smile resting upon his muzzle.

Khari's head snapped around and she took in the Alpha. Her mind stopped working. He was stunning. Khari just couldn't help it. Okay, sure, she was a pup, but she was still able to feel this way, right? She'd heard the code once in her lifetime, and there was no rule for these feelings. Besides, she was an older pup... Khari's snout turned into a big grin and she gave him a cute face.
"Yes I am! With you around, maybe I could learn even more," she suggested. She had a sharp-tongue, indeed, and a big mind for a pup.

Leafa looked over at Avikii and Khari and a frown grew on her face. Her eyes flashed with jealousy. How dare she! Leafa fought the urge to rush over to Avikii and pull him away. Instead, she stood up slowly and strode over, keeping her emotions in check. She glared at Khari and stood close to Avikii, eyes trained on the pup.

Avikii couldn't help but admire the little pup's attitude, he was practically just like that as a pup himself, which gave him the know on her sudden rush of feelings. "Well you just might learn some more soon," he told her, aiming to get her hopes up. She was a pup, sure an old one, but there wasn't much else to learn at such a young age.
He now turned to Leafa, slightly confused as to why she had grown so close. Taking a small side step to his left, he added space between them. "Have you caught anything yet today, Leafa?" He asked genuinely.

Leafa nodded, still keeping her eyes on Khari. The pup's amber eyes burned into her fur.
"I was out all morning. I caught two rabbits and a small vole," Leafa replied. She shook out her fur and sat down silently. Her eyes were still glued onto Khari.

Khari's eyes traveled over to Avikii. She gave a small smile before returning her gaze to Leafa. This she-wolf seemed like she'd be an obstacle.

Avikii offered a nod of approval, "good to hear. If you don't mind, can you grab one of your catches for Khari here?" He asked, now facing Leafa and taking in her pale blue optics. "It would be awfully kind of you." He continued. The pup would need to soon understand that there was a feeding order, luckily, she was one of the few to be fed first, but when she ranks up to subordinate, she would be one of the last to eat.

"She could get it herself," Leafa muttered and trudged away to the prey-pile. She picked up one of her rabbits and made her way back over, an angry look on her face.

Khari watched with interest as Avikii ordered Leafa to get the prey. Khari wanted that power. She wanted to be able to tell other wolves what to do. Oh, what a wonderful thing that must be.

Avikii nodded a thanks, helping a pup was always a good deed, no matter what pack. "If you'd like to, you may share it, leave the other leftovers for the higher ranked wolves, I'll grab something later." He informed, making sure she wasn't about to go grab a hare for him as well.

Leafa stared at Avikii. She looked at Khari then frowned. Leafa turned her head and looked away. She turned and shuffled to the opposite end of the camp where she sat and glowered.

Khari watched Leafa go with a small smile before she turned to the rabbit. She ate a little of the rabbit before she was full.

Avikii was ready to fix in his stern voice, "we're lucky to catch prey at such a time of year, it's very scarce, and if we don't find any, we die of starvation. Does that give you a better idea?" He snapped, wondering why this pup hadn't learned yet.

Leafa's ears perked up and she glared at Khari. She rose from her spot and ran at Khari, grabbing the rest of the hare and pushing it behind her legs.
"If that is what you believe, then you don't deserve to be fed. The way of the wolf is to respect our prey because it keeps us fed in times of need. Without it, we will die. Prey is important, and therefore it is highly valued!" Leafa snarled. While she was a loner, prey had been hard to find. She'd had to wander for days before coming upon a good area to hunt, and most of the time she had to be cautious since it usually was on pack territory.

Avikii pricked his ears forward in surprise, yet also thankfulness. It was good to hear Leafa snap at the young wolf, that she understood how important prey is. He looked at Khari again, his tail held high with dominance over the pup. "Yes, Leafa is completely right, listen to her, it seems like that's something you will need to catch onto." He scolded, his frosty gaze narrowed down.

"It's probably not that hard to catch a simple piece of food! I bet I could catch more than Leafa OR you!" Khari spat. She admired Avikii's cold glare for some reason.
