The wind wove its way over the steep hills of Canyon Pack territory. The night before snow had fallen in the valley and created a blanket of white throughout the territories. Here and there a flurry of snow would sink down from the sky, nothing too threatening, just a gentle dancing flake occasionally crossing his vision. Avikii stood at the entrance to the den site, earlier he had organized a patrol to hunt some more of the elk that he and Leafa had discovered a few days prior. The elk were weak from the cold, or at least that's what the alpha suspected, there really wasn't any other explanation.

302 padded up to his alpha, the Casanova had been careful not to be late, knowing Avikii had better things to do than wait around for others. The shadowy male took a seat beside the other male, and waited patiently in the cold, which was thankfully not too bad due to his thick winter coat.

Leafa padded over and looked at 302 and Avikii. She settled down and glanced around.
"Another patrol?" she questioned, her voice a little hoarse. Her eyes were duller than usual, but she had blamed it on the fact that she had just given birth.

Swift trotted over, letting out a shiver.
The she wolf had become oddly quiet lately. Her respect and maturity had greatly increased in response to that. She almost seemed like Ceiko, however for her, it was obvious she was hiding something. Was it a feeling? Were they words? A secret? Only the sky wolves knew.
She dipped her head to Leafa as she approached, she looked at her briefly. She mustve been spending too much time with C. She had an odd feeling there was a tension in the air, but perhaps she was just imagining it.
She shook her pelt of the odd feelings, and of the coldness. She was a bit surprised Leafa had just had pups. Leafa was not much older then herself, and Swift, she had not even begun to think or consider a relationship with anyone. She never saw Ceiko's siblings often, and Ceiko was her friend, she could never become his mate. She could find love in the other males, but none of which really intrested her. Any of the remaining males were too old for her, such as 302 or Lightning. She shook her pelt, feeling as if she had forgotten a male in specific.
Oh yes, Hediki. She looked at her paws, and while she hadn't said anything, an even heavier silence dawned upon her. They would never even be friends. It was as simple as that, she thought with an odd bitter twist in her belly.

Avikii realized the others had arrived, including his daughter. He had noticed her quick change in personality, and wondered why it had happened so quick. He felt pretty clueless honestly.
The alpha male turned, looking out over the territory. "Let's go, everyone's here." He said, stealing a glance at Leafa and Khari before padding over the hill and heading down the slope. He watched his footing as he moved forward, the snowfall making the landscape much more slick, especially considering they were on a slanted surface.

302 eyed Khari from out of the corner of his eye, casting a grin her direction. As they started to move down the slope, he made sure to walk at the younger wolf's side.
"So, how's your training going?" He attempted to start up innocent conversation.

Leafa glanced at Swift and gave her a small smile before standing up as Avikii started to head out. She followed him down the slope. Her body was aching, but she ignored it.

Khari turned her head to 302 and grinned.
"It's going pretty good," she replied with a goofy grin.

Avikii let them down the sloping hills, till eventually they were out on flat land, and nearing the elk hunting grounds, the same clear area where he and Leafa had hunted a day earlier.
He stopped on the edge of the grounds.

Leafa stopped next to Avikii and squinted a bit.
"They're still there," she commented, surprised. Then she turned her attention to Avikii.
"Are we gonna still try to hunt them?" She questioned. A light-headed feeling hit her like a rock, but she shoved it away and tried not to let it show.

Avikii glanced at Leafa, "yes, of course we are, they're such easy targets in difficult weather such as this. Only a mouse-brain would pass this up." He added, a flick of his tail signaling them to move forward.
The alpha avoided large patches of snow as they moved onward, keeping a keen eye on their prey. Finally, he paused, glancing back at the others. "On my signal." He hissed quietly, and turned to get a glimpse of the herd again, scanning them for the weakest.

Swift nodded, ready, her tail flicked back and forth. Her body was low and parallel to the ground, every muscle of her body scrunched together and ready to pounce. Her tail flicked back and forth silently as she awaited the signal.

Leafa crept forward along with them. She glanced out of the corner of her eye as she waited for Avikii to single them to attack. The first catch had only taken two wolves to catch, so they could take down one or two easily with 5 wolves.

Khari followed 302. This was one of her first big hunting missions! She'd never gone after something as big as an elk before.

Avikii glanced between the three she-wolves, then to 302. "Now!" He barked, and darted like a bullet from the dead bushes. The first cow elk was close by, and gave the alpha an easy grasp on her. He latched his teeth into the cow's haunches, weakening the creature before it even had the chance to run.

Swift raced around her father, and came after the elk quickly. She tried to leap on it but with snapping jaws, the only bite she could land, was one amidst the skin between shoulder and back. While it was not the killing bite, she dug her teeth in as far as she could, none the less.

Leafa charged after Avikii. She'd take the one with Swift and Avikii, so she lunged at it. Leafa's heart hammered and she nearly slipped to the ground. Leafa bit into the lower neck of the cow elk. She could hear the cries from the elk as it was attacked. It was the same as the other one that Avikii and her had attacked the other day... it didn't put up much resistance and basically just fell to the ground and gave up. Something was wrong, but she decided not to question it.

Avikii tugged down hard on the elks rear, yanking it down to the ground to give the two she-wolves a better shot at it.

302 on the other hand charged at a different cow, one that was surprisingly, not even trying to get away from the hunting party. It was simply just laying down, with eyes glazed over. The Casanova lunged, digging his teeth into the prey's jugular, which was for once reachable within the first blow.

Swift took her chance as the elk collapsed beneath their combined weight and went for the elks throat. She dug her teeth deep in, feeling the blood well up past her teeth. It had an odd taste, yet she had never had elk meat before, so she chose not to question it. She felt the elks breath grow ragged before its life fled from its eyes all together.

Leafa held on for a few more moments before she let go altogether. She looked at the elk with pride.
"Nice job," she said.

Khari followed 302 and she jumped at the cow with him. She helped him however she could as she bit into the side of its neck.

Swift dipped her head to the somewhat older she-wolf, thanking her for the praise before she glanced around for 302. Her muzzle was dripping with blood as she saw 302 a short ways away with another cow. She took a step forth to go help, but stopped herself when Khari bolted ahead and seemed to finish up the job.
She shook out her pelt and glanced back to her father, awaiting his command.

Avikii relaxed his old on the now dead elk, looking up and realizing the rest had run off. "These two are good," he said with a nod, seeing that 302 and Khari had managed to take down another cow nearby.
302 backed away from the cow, lettingKhari finish the kill.
