From the very first pack to now, wolves believe in the ancestors whom watch over them. There are several ancestors (legends or spirit wolves) in which wolves look up to, ask for help, give thanks to, or give offerings to. There is no know description of how some Legend and/or Spirit-Wolves look, but some wolves who've had dreams or visions of them claimed to see some sort of ghostly appearance.
Spirit-Wolves:
-Sky-Wolves: The main group of Spirit-Wolves, Sky-Wolves are said to be a group of diseased wolves (ancestors) who watch over packs from the sky. The Sky-Wolves take place in many stories and are equivalent to gods to the wolves. Wolves often ask them for help and advise and construct ceremonies in their name. They are said to be warring each time there is a thunderstorm. This is called a Sky-Dog fight.
-The Sun-Wolf: The Sun-Wolf is a male Spirit-Wolf that most wolves identify as the same entity to the sun. Him and the Moon-Wolf are not very close friends, and got in a big fight when they were young, so that is why when the Moon-Wolf rises, the Sun-Wolf sets.
-The Moon-Wolf: A female Spirit-Wolf that serves as the moon entity to wolves. Similar to how other Spirit-Wolves are found in lore, she is likely to be in stories told by mother wolves to pups. Wolf packs are known to howl to here in an intimidate ceremony know as Full Moon Gatherings or The great Howl.
-The Earth-Wolf: Unlike other Spirit-Wolf, Earth-Wolf doesn't have a clear or know description, but she is believed to be a huge, solid, black wolf, and is known for the fatal earthquakes she causes when she growls. Wolves bury prey and offerings to her, and when a wolf dies, she claims their body as the earth. Wolves interpret thunder as her growling at Lightning.
-The Forest-Wolf: The entity most wolves know as the forest. He one of the more kindhearted and better spirited Spirit-Wolves, and when feeling generous, he might give a hunting wolf some extra prey to take home to the pack.
-The Lake-Wolf: A female Spirit-Wolf that is said to serve as lakes and never ending lakes (oceans). She is a sibling to the River-Wolf.
-The River-Wolf: A female Spirit-Wolf what is said to represent the rivers and streams.
-Fear-Wolves: This so called group of Spirit-Wolves shouldn't even be given that name. These wolves are dark, cruel, viscous, and don't believe in mercy. Exiled from the packs, they are believed to work with Coyotes or exiled/rejected wolves. Fear-Wolves have never been seen or heard from, but some Elders have claimed to feel a dark force growing between the packs...
Legend-Wolves:
Lightning: He is described as a male Legend-Wolf, quick, clever, and even able to outrun death itself. The Sky-Dogs favor and adore him, while Earth-Dog wants him dead. He is also know for evading the Earth-Wolf's growls thanks to the grace of the Sky-Wolves. (His story is often told in pup stories)
Wildfire: A female Legend-Wolf, Wildfire is dangerous. Not much is known about her, but usually when Lightning gets in a fight with the Earth-Dog, she's not too far behind. (Her story is often told in pup stories)
