An early dawn breeze found it's way through Avikii's fur, which woke him from a peaceful slumber within his warm den. He let out a silent yawn, shaking out his fur a bit as he did. The alpha twisted his head to get a look at kaiser, who slept peacefully beside him, which caused him to smile.
Today was the day a good friend and a trusted pack mate would get ranked up, a wolf that went by the name of Lightning.
Avikii now wedged his way past Kaiser, trying not to wake her from her peaceful rest. He made his way out into the warm sunlight that filtered its way into the valley through puffy white clouds. He looked around, realizing that Lightning was either still asleep, getting ready for dawn patrols, or already left for dawn patrols. He hoped it was the first or second option. He flicked his tail, turning around to hope up upon the sturdy rock pile that made up the alpha's den. He closed his eyes, breathing deep before letting out a quick howl from within his chest, which grabbed the attention of waking pack mates.

Kaiser blinked her eyes open, hearing Avikii's howl. She yawned, looking out of the den as she pushed herself up, peeking her head out before walking down to the clearing of the camp, sitting down.

Lightning had wanted to sleep in for once, perhaps 302 would just patrol for him again. He hoped 302 would awaken, and see him still asleep and decide to be courteous and just do the patrol for him. However a sharp how that broke through the crisp dawn morning air shot through his dreams and brought him to his senses. Lightning groaned and shook himself awake, he hoped the Alpha had a good reason for waking him so early. Lightning walked out of the den, stumbling a bit from exhaustion. His fur was pushed a certain way from sleeping awkwardly through the night, and he hardly seemed to take notice as he stretched his body out a good meter or so

Avikii's muzzle held a light smile as he noticed Lightning emerge from the nearby den, it was obvious he had been planning on sleeping in, but his thoughts would hopefully soon be changed at what Avikii had to share.
"I apologize in advance for waking many of you up at such an hour, but this had to be done." His blue gaze flickered to the lead warrior below him. "Lightning, please take a step forward." He said in a serious, yet friendly tone.

Lightning took a step forward, just a single step. He wasnt being a smart-caribou but he was just tired and still waking up. He took a tired glance around and then back at Avikii, "Okay..." He yawned. "Now what?" It just wasnt clicking.

Avikii would have laughed out loud if it wasn't for the official moment, he just continued, hoping Lightning would catch on. "Lightning," He began. "You have proven yourself many times since we first met. From planning what to do when Bison Pack scattered during the fire, to fending off rogues and helping keep bellies full during the flood. You have shown your loyalty over and over again and it's time for you to earn the rank you definitely deserve." He raised his head, "from here on out, you will be known as my second in command, welcome to the rank of beta."

Lightning looked at Avikii, his gaze blank. Suddenly, nearly a whole two or three seconds later it hit him, "OH!" His eyes were wide with shock. "Geeze Avikii, you couldn't let me clean up first!" He barked at the alpha, in between licks over his fur before he sprinted up towards the alpha, his pelt hot with embarrassment.
(Tbh I relate to my Ocs Lightning and Arrow on such unbelievably & unimaginable spiritual levels)

Avikii let his amusement loose, chuckling at Lightning's embarrassment. "You look fine." He assured his friend. Avikii was glad to finally have a wolf at his side in leadership, they could discuss plans now without any other wolf wondering why Avikii would only talk to the lead warrior and not any other ranked wolves.

Lightning scoffed, but a grin lay upon his muzzle. "If its so fine then why do you laugh as you speak hm?" He inquired the alpha with a playful and friendly look. The kind that friends of a long while, those that had shared many moments together, a look of mischeif yet no harm or hostility or secrecy. He grinned, looking back at all the other wolves of the gathered pack.

Avikii noted the ceremony coming to a close, he took note to what Lightning said as a hearty grin remained plastered to his muzzle. "Congratulations." The alpha said, dipping his head in respect for the newly ranked wolf.
It was a new dawn for Canyon Pack, new ranks, new pups, and most importantly, new trusts. Avikii hopped down from the neatly placed rocks, landing with a thud on the stiff ground below his paws. TOPIC END |
