His heart was racing.
Shoulder muscles cramping.
Every part of him was screaming to stop, but he wouldn't, not till he got what he wanted.
Malikai peeled after the cougar, of which had quite a distance ahead of him. He wouldn't let it get away that easily, not without some serious injuries. The foolish thing had stolen one of his proud catches, and it was rare to find such a prize piece of prey up north. If this cat thought it could get away with taking his only meal for the day, the thing was more elk-brained than it looked. The streaked grey male continued to burst forward, claws digging into the rather stiff, cold ground. He had dark intentions for the prey-stealing beast, and they could be considered morbid.
Closer... Closer...
Malikai lunged, his muscles contracting then stretching a good distance and he latched his pearly teeth into the cougars rear. He heard it let out a hiss type growl in pain, and in no time flat the larger predator was whirling around, its next target was him. Malikai watching as the things vicious yellow eyes flashed with pain and intentions to kill. The blue eyed male merely growled, and dug his teeth even further into its haunch. Blood welled from the newly opened wound and flung wildly around, most of it hitting him in the face.
A few more moments went by of wrestling with the powerful cougar, Malikai's grip on the thing stayed put, and had gotten harder and more violent, which seemed to be proving effective in wearing out the large wild cat... He would need backup in taking down something this powerful, even if it was growing tired.

Ashen had wandered after Malikai curiously. She wasn't too sure where he was going or why, but followed him anyways as she padded after his trail. Quickly realizing that his pace had quickened, she began to quicken hers, bounding after the paw pads that had made its imprint into the ground. She widened her eyes, spotting the cougar and Malikai.
She narrowed her amber as a bit as she snarled, leaping at the large cat when she got closer, avoiding Malikai.

A scent wafted across his nose, his wild blue gaze flicked to the side, where he saw a she-wolf he didn't recognize. He ignored her for now, seeing that she was helping him. At this point, the male wolf just have to give the cougar the killing blow after all the beast had only received bite wounds on its flank or haunches, with this strangers help, it gave Malikai the chance to reach for the cougar's jugular.
The powerful male swiftly ricocheted his slender body, making a nose dive for the deranged cat's throat. Teeth clamped down on his scruff just as his own teeth penetrated the animal's jugular. The young cougar made a weird gurgling noise, but the grip on his own scruff didn't loosen. Malikai bit down harder, not wanting to loose his chance at a kill. He began to shake his head violently from side to side, ripping at the poor things skin, which felt as if it would come loose at any moment.

Ashen clamped her jaws onto the cougars forleg tightly, giving Malikai time to kill the cat. After she felt the cougar losing strength, she loosened her grip, her jaws still biting down on the cats foreleg near the muscles. She snarled a bit, letting go as she backed up and looked over at Malikai.

Malikai let his teeth dig deeper before violently thrashing his head from side ot side, it felt as if the cougars loose skin was going to just rip apart at any moment. Blood flung from the fresh wound, splattering the male's face with an array of red droplets. It was as if he could feel the life of the beast drift off as the air grew cooler.
The lean male flicked an ear, dropping the dead animal at his paws, it fell limply. Now for the she-wolf. He thought as he turned to face her. A pretty female she was, but he had seen many wolves throughout his lonesome moons. A grin began to set itself upon his muzzle as the switch flipped inside his head. He calmly approached her, his gaze low, appearing relaxed. "That was brave of you," his voice came off low and smooth, "I thank you for that, but what are you doing up north here?" He lifted his muzzle to the air slightly, to make sure she wasn't a pack wolf. Thank god, she's not. He thought.

She backed away from the dead cougar, parting her jaws as she coughed a bit, spitting out a small wad of tan fur, a look of disgust on her face. Ashen turned her head to look at Malikai, looking over him quickly before taking a seat. " Eh. Not that big of a deal." She said casually, listening to him. " Oh, not much..." she said somewhat cautiously as she watched him carefully. " And I was just going somewhere, who knows where."

"Oh really? Where were you headed?" He cocked his head only slightly, and pulled a fake innocent expression, similar to that of a pup's. If she was a loner, perhaps he could draw her towards the tribe, Titan always enjoys new tribe mates, especially if they're tough. She had proven her strength when taking down that cougar with him. He shook from his thoughts, eyeing her again, switching his playful expression back to a more serious one as he waited for her to answer.

" No where in particular. " Ashen said " Why?" She questioned, tilting her head to the side a bit as she looked him over again. " By the way, I'm Ashen." She added quickly, thinking the wolf meant her no harm. At least she hoped.

Malikai nodded, taking in her unique name. "Well, I'm only asking because I'm part of a tribe, a rather violent one at that." He paused, looking down at his paw, which he raised at the same time. He calmly inspected it, small cuts and a twisted claw lay in his line of vision. He stuck out his tattered paw towards Ashen, to show her the roughness of his tribe. "We're looking for new requites, and you, she-wolf, prove to be mighty strong." He praised her, hoping to get on her good side, and not her bad.
"Oh, and I'm Malikai." He dipped his head, but only slightly.

Ashen yawned slightly as she looked at Malikai. " Interesting." She said. " I'll consider trying to make my way over there." She added, nodding a bit before glancing down at his pawpad. " Violent indeed..." she said softly, glancing up at him from her tilted head, rolling her eyes a bit. " Im not that strong. Surely you're more so than I."

He took her last 'compliment' as a challenge, he padded closer to her at a steady, yet somewhat intimidating speed. He was just about nose to nose with her, deep blue eyes staring into hers, when he used minimal strength to unbalance her, pushing her to the ground. He kept his cool gaze set on her as he did so.
"You know, I'm stronger than you." He insisted, his eyes lowering to a calming glint. It was common for him to do this, especially to females. For him, it was a way of addressing dominance over another, and usually, due to his charm, he was successful in keeping a she-wolf under him...

Ashen huffed as he unbalanced her, narrowing her amber eyes and snarling softly. She turned into her stomach, crawling out from underneath him as she turned around to face him, her eyes still narrowed. " I never asked for a demonstration." She snapped. Taking a step back, she sat down again after shaking the dirt out of her pelt.

Malikai was known for testing his limits. The lean male ignored her light snarl and what she had said. He approached again, that calming and almost mesmerizing glint to his eyes. He inched closer, quicker this time, and yet again nudged her down below him, but he didn't loom over her like he did before. His tail was held high, in that confident sort of way. He knew she posed no threat, and he knew she knew the same for him, at this point it was just game.

Ashen let out a huff of annoyance as she was pushed the ground again. She crawl d out from under him once more, turning to face him as she stood, her eyes still narrowed. " Would you stop." She said, getting very annoyed at this point.

Almost. He inched forward once more, and yet again pushed her down, this time slightly more forcefully. He loomed over her, tail still held high, a way of him saying, hey, I'm the dominate. He stared her down, not daring the break eye contact.

Ashen kept her eyes narrowed as she snarled loudly, " Get off of me!" She snapped. She wasn't going to bother with fighting, it would be a waste of energy considering she assumed he would continue doing it. She rested on her side as she looked up at him with a glare.

Malikai's gaze lowered, and he backed off with a light huff. Not exactly what he wanted, but sure, that'll do. He was hoping for her to get a little more violent, so he could see what else she was made of.

"Nothing." He eyed her, "you're just not what I expected." He replied rather bluntly, not to be rude though, he was simply lost in thought. Will she be joining the tribe? Is she as strong as she appears to be? She's probably fed up with me... He turned to face her. "So... I'm going to need some wolf to help me carry that carcass back to my tribe's land."
