The Midlife Crisis

It was a mid-afternoon day. Leafa was padding around outside camp. It was a simple stroll, nothing complex. She glanced around, wondering what the other wolves of Canyon Pack were up to. It was then that everything turned to crap. Leafa's paw got snagged on a stone and she fell. Her head slammed into a boulder and she blacked out.

Leafa awoke inside the camp, though her memory was hazy. Avikii stood over her with a grim expression on his face. Something like 'would you just stop injuring yourself already?' Leafa sat up and looked around. A small group of leaves scuttled past her. Leafa let out a cry of terror and she jumped back.
"Er, Leafa?" Avikii asked. Leafa stared at him. That name... those words... they were so incredibly terrifying.
"No!!! What a terrible scary name! How terribly frightening and horrifying those words are! No! I cannot be Leafa! Leaves are scary! They will eat you!" Leafa screeched and ran off. Avikii was left there, dumbfounded.
"What just happened?" He asked himself, not completely sure how to answer that yet.
Leafa raced out of camp, trying to avoid as many leaves as she could. Panic tore through her beating heart. They were all over! All those creatures! How could she be named after such horrible things?! Leafa stopped and thought for a moment.
"I am no longer Leafa!!! I am now Akila!!!" she announced quite loudly. She turned around, Avikii running towards her. She grinned.
"Leafa! What are you doing!" Avikii shouted. Akila/Leafa backed away before raising her head.
"I am not Leafa anymore! I am Akila!!" she screeched. The newly named Akila marched past Avikii. Avikii put his paw out, tripping Akila. She hit her head and blacked out again.

Leafa regained consciousness. Avikii stood over her again, an angry look on his face this time.
"Leafa?" he asked warily.
"What?" she snapped, pain throbbing in her head. Avikii let out a sigh of relief before he ran off, obviously frightened of Leafa. Oh, what a weird wolf she is.
