*If you are not interested and clicked no for the poll, skip to the bottom where it says "NOW"
First off, I wanted to ask if any of you would be interested in creating a book club? You guys are really fun people to talk to, and it seems a few of us like books!
Please vote if you want a book club, if yes or maybe (don't forget to click yes or maybe, you have up to three votes), using your remaining two votes, please vote where we should host this. I included other forms of media because I personally think that this website should be kept strictly to its original purpose, however if you guys cannot access these other medias then I understand when this is the last option.
In the club, we would first, discuss the types of books we like. We can come to a top 2-5 books we want to read (unless a unanimous agreement was made) and vote on which one we want to read.
My only request is that if you want to read book 2/+ of series so and so and Sally hasn't read book one yet, that you either tolerate us reading the first few books to get to that book, or do not complain.
We would set a goal to read so many chapters or pages per week.
If you do not own the book, or cannot find access to it at a local library, I will be looking up other online options to hopefully find an online link to the book. Therefore, we cannot read a book unless we all have a copy of it.
Books can also be plays! (Because I wouldn't mind reading a bit of Shakespeare)
Please do not cheat your way out and watch the movie if there is one.
Once we read every so many pages, we can talk on the date in which we scheduled to meet (most likely a weekend), and discuss our thoughts, feelings, what we think will happen next (dont say anything if you know of course), and pick the next meeting date and how far we will try to read.
If you read ahead, please be considerate to others, don't spoil the book, research where we are at and only share your feelings up to that point.
This group doesn't just have to be a once a week hi and bye thing. You can find trust in all of us, ask for writing tips, opinions, roleplay questions, this dress or that dress to prom, anything. Us nerds have to stick together ;D
NOW, on a separate note, I made this poll to discuss our favorite books!
We all have a favorite book that we like. Sometimes we cant pick just one!
Talk about your favorite books, but don't spoil anything, maybe we want to read it too!
I made this thread because I find it a good way to find out some good books to read. Something new, something exciting!
Cant wait to hear about your guy's favorite books below!
My favorite books. Well I haven't been reading much recently and I honestly would love to take it up again, hence why I asked about the book club idea. I didn't want to join one at school because I feel that I cant always read as fast as all of them, and I probably wont be able to speak out against liking a book, or how many pages to read or the next meetup because Im too nice to argue (sometimes), and I don't know them well enough to feel the ability to speak freely. So I felt that making a book club with you guys, we could then be open with each other and easily more flexible.
So since I have not read a book recently, I will list my favorites over the years.
My first favorite series that I felt I had to collect all of (But only have like 3 of) is:
The Puppy Place Series By: Ellen Miles
Pugsley was the first one I read because I love pugs, so that attracted me to it.
With this series, you do not have to start with book one to understand it, which is "Buddy" (If I recall correctly).
The general story plot follows the idea of two young kids who love dogs so much that they foster care them until they can find them an owner. They learn about each dogs personality and go through a bunch of different issues until they can find the perfect forever home for them.
I read this book 5th/6th grade, a very easy read.
My second favorite series was:
Wolves of the Beyond By: Kathryne Lasky
For any wolf lover I definitely recommend it.
This is an image of book one.
The story follows a wolf named Faolan, a name which means 'gift of the river' according to his milk mother. Faolan was born considered 'cursed' because of a mutation. In the packs, it is considered bad to keep a cursed wolf in the pack, his mother had a feeling that one of her litter would be born this way so she flees trying to escape the omega like wolf who would take her pup to an almost certain death on an elk trail to be crushed under stampede or to a cliff where it would be sure to picked off by a bird, or fall to a quick death. Does faolan's mother manage to escape the wolf? What will become of faolan? Read to find out!
Its a very easy read, Kathryn Lasky also wrote Guardians of Gahoole so she is a great author.
I read this book series when I was in 4th-6th grade
6 books in the series.
My Third Favorite Is:
The Warrior Cats Series, Warriors By Erin Hunter
I read this starting 7th grade after I finished Wolves of The Beyond. I still haven't finished. If you love cats, then I definitely recommend this series as well. Even if you don't, its still awesome. Its action packed, lots of drama, and a small portion of this RP is similar to it.
This is the new cover of book one and I am so in love with all the new book cover designs hhh
The story plot follows a kitten named Rusty. He couldn't say he was 100% content with the kitty-pet life (the life of a house cat). He talked with his neighbor whom which had been spayed/neudered and his friend talked about how he had never been the same ever since. Rusty was new to the community, but as much as he had grown to care about his new friend, he decided to venture into the forest. It was then when he strayed across a clan leader named Bluestar and one of her warriors. Bluestar had noticed Rusty chasing a mouse and invited him into the clans. Does he join the clans?
Read the book!
10/10 read
Another favorite of mine is a work in progress series by Erin Hunter. It is called:
Survivors.
It does have the first Arc completed, but there are sure to be much more on the way.
I am currently reading this series, I have completed the first arc and cant wait to get my hands on the second.
The story follows a city dog named Lucky. Lucky was trapped in a dog pound when it happened. There was a massive earthquake, and just like that, every human went missing. His friend Sweet, and himself escaped, to find the treachery that had been unleashed on the city. No dog knows what happened to the humans. Sweet invites lucky to join her in a search for a pack, but lucky denies. As terrible toxins enter the waters and savage behaviors of desperate hunger set in, Lucky wonders if he should have joined sweet. What becomes of lucky? Read and find out! Its a great book too!
