(OPEN TO: Lily)
Ceiko sat near the edge of camp with a sigh, his eyes staring down at the ground. He had spent the last few minutes, looking through the camp for Lily, and found he had very little luck. He wanted to say perhaps she was sleeping, perhaps he went into the wrong den. None the less, he didn't want to admit he were going blind, or had forgotten of her sweet delicate scent either. His tail flicked impatiently, hoping perhaps she would turn up, perhaps she would approach him.
His hopes were low however. It had been a while since the two of them had spoken, a long while. His ears flicked around, hoping to catch the sound of paw steps approaching him. From any direction, any direction at all, he just hoped that someone would approach him. And he hoped, that despite all the odds, it would be Lily.
He felt his stomach turn with an uneasiness, what would he say, what would he do? He didn't think this through! He kneaded at the ground nervously, his paws shuffling over the ground as if for a moment he thought he were to loose the ground as easily as he was loosing his sight.
He glanced the sky and then around the camp, oh what to do, what to do! Suddenly, an idea came to him. 'I'll ask her to come on a walk with me' he decided. He took a deep breath, it was a cheesy idea, but it was a start. He closed his eyes, feeling the wind brush against his fur. It was getting colder out by the minute, and evening would be near. He just hoped that Lily would return soon so the two of them could be back by nightfall. Oh how he hated nightfall...

Well, at least she'd been able to get some hunting done.
Padding into the den-site, Lily carried two hares in her jaws and dropped them on the freshkill pile, which in her mind wasn't so fresh any more. Being a subordinate, it was her duty to help the pack in any way that she could, even if it meant spending a whole day hunting and only coming back with a couple pieces of prey. Now that she thought about it, she wasn't the best hunter and probably should train with someone to work on her skills.
Letting out a sigh, the cream colored wolf made her way to the subordinate den, ready to collapse in her nest. Her paws were soar from the long day and her lungs hurt from running so fast, a bit too fast for her taste. With Leafbare just around the corner, prey was becoming scarce and the fact that it took her a whole day to hunt two hares worried her. Would the pack have enough food for when the cold weather rolled in?
Almost to the den, a familiar scent wafted past her nose and turned her head to see Ceiko sitting a few coyote-lengths away. The younger wolf looked a bit down and as much as she wanted to sleep, her paws turned around and before she knew it, she was heading towards her pack-mate. The two of them hadn't talked much recently and being more of a quiet wolf, she wondered what this force was that seemed to be pulling her to him.
The sun was beginning to set from its place high in the sky and a chilly breeze ruffled her fur. "Hello Ceiko," the she-wolf mumbled, reaching him. She'd never been the best at conversation, much less with males and hoped she didn't look too awkward. Then again, her mind had been on so much recently that being with him was oddly... calming.

Ceiko's ears angled up, and then he glanced up, blinking a few times in attempt to meet her gaze. He looked directly at her, but day by day, he continued to find it all the more difficult to see anything at all.
"Oh, hello Lily." He greeted the pale she wolf, knowing her easily by her familiar scent.
He quickly stood up, "I had been looking for you.." he paused, hoping he hadn't overlooked her in the den by accident. He didn't want anyone to recognize he was going blind. He knew it would be a matter of time that his eyes became the foggy blue, same as his mothers, but not was not one of those moments, and he would much prefer it to be treated as an equal then as a wolf whom was as incapable as his mother may appear to some.
"I was, I was wondering if perhaps you would like to join me on a walk perhaps?" He continued, his ears flicked forth and back, his tail swaying with the apparent hope that fluttered inside him.
He was completely unaware of her work outside the camp all day, and oblivious to what pains she was in. All that he knew was that she stood before him, far more dazzling then the stars in the sky, or then the sun reflecting off a dewdrop on a flower petal, or then the pure white glistening of freshly fallen snow. She was beauty beyond comparison, and every second that she stood in his presence made him all the more hopeful she would agree.
The white male was ever so unfamiliar with her history, with the reasons she seemed to feel the need to work so hard unlike Swift. However, he merely viewed Swift as lazy due to her own opinions as her rank among the subordinates, and Lily was merely doing her job. Ceiko looked at her and then the ground, pausing to consider what little he had managed to do for the pack. He was perhaps the most useless hunter there was. He had caught one hare within all his time of being subordinate. He felt like such a disappointment. Nonetheless, he wore a smile on his face, the hope not fading from his heart and mind, that she would say yes, and accept his offer.

He'd been looking for her? No ever seemed to pay much attention to her unless she was needed for a patrol, so what was his reason for searching her out? Now intrigued, the tan wolf tilted her head, curious as to what the slightly younger male had to say. "Uh, sure, I'd be glad to accompany you," she replied with a faint smile. Lily wasn't one to smile just for the heck of it so he must have been pretty important for her to genuinely grin. Silently observing Cieko, she noticed how uncomfortable he looked and realized it was probably cause of her. Was she really that bland that wolves felt weird around her?
Hoping that wasn't the case, Lily gave her pelt a shake. As much as her paws hurt, she'd might as well go with him on a little stroll. Besides, she'd already been out so much today, what harm would walking around more do? "Want to head out?" she asked softly, turned around to face the den site "entrance."

Ceiko nodded in agreement after he dipped his head to her with a slight smile in return.
His pelt was prickled with a nervous anxiety, his ears flicked and swiveled all around as he searched for something to speak about. He didn't want to really say what he thought of her... Did he? Wasn't that the whole point of this? No, right, he just wanted to see her. Yeah, she was just a friend he missed seeing around. The thought was bitter and hard to swallow.
He paused for a brief second in his tracks to shake out his pelt, "So how have you been? Its been a while since I had seen you around." He started out simple, trying to keep nonchalant but his voice felt as if it were trembling beyond his control. His heart raced with fear, anxiety, excitement and something so much more he just couldn't place his claw on.
His breath felt stuck in his lungs, in his throat as if his nervous energy were too obvious or perhaps he had said the wrong thing. What he said wasn't a lie. He was about half blind, and day by day he saw much much less. However he began to fear that he came off as not observant enough or as if he didn't care, which he did...

Ears twitching back and forth at the two walked side by side, Lily couldn't understand it felt like she had butterflies in her stomach but she couldn't show how nervous she was, she'd look weak. Lost in thought, Cieko's words coming from almost absolute silence made her jump. "I've been fine, a little lonely I guess," the subordinate started, realizing what she'd said. Great. On top of being quiet, now she looked like a total loner too!

Ceiko looked at her, "Hopefully once I have an official rank, Ill be a bit less busy, and perhaps we could hang out a bit more." His tail wagged, hoping she would agree to the idea. He tilted his head watching her, his mouth parted into a grin as they walked.
Of course, not paying attention, Ceiko nearly ran into a tree, jumping out of the way and bumping into her, "Ahk! Oh! Sorry, sorry..." He said, echoing his words, his ears laid back with sincere apology glowing in his eyes.
'You clumsy fool! What were you thinking coming out here! You get distracted so easily, you wouldn't realize if a badger was following you!' Ceiko thought to himself bitterly, fearful of her own response to his clumsiness.

A bit surprised but not taken aback by him bumping into her, Lily stood there, a small smile growing on her face. She wasn't one for fun, but seeing someone be so clumsy and innocent about it brought her an odd sense of happiness. "It's okay, no need to apologize," she replied softly and continued to walk. He was definitely something else, a something that she found comfort in. As the two of them walked on, she remembered his first statement and decided to go back to that. "By the way, I'd like that. You know, hanging out more," although quiet and a bit awkward, Cieko was someone that she felt she could talk to and now that she thought about it, they were both just as equally awkward around each other, so they balanced each other out.

Ceiko chuckled, trying to relieve himself of the awkward tension in his muscles.
He took a glance over at her as she mentioned wanting to hang out more. His tail wagged quickly, "Rea-" He broke off, quickly finding his excitement too much to show. He cleared his throat, and took a more sophisticated stance, "Oh.. erm, that would be great." He nodded, his eyes narrowed as he tried to be as straight faced as Avikii, a wolf he looked up to, but only seemed to make a fool of in his attempt. He glanced back to her and let out a sigh, smiling a bit as he tried to collect some words to say.
"So uhm, what have you been up to?" He asked her, he figured it was probably mostly hunting and paroling a bunch, but what he really wanted to know was more about her. He had to admit, but never out loud of course, that he found such a fascination in the young she-wolf. He couldn't help but feel attracted to her, to want to know more about her and what she thought and what she liked and disliked and what made her happy and what made her upset. He wanted to know everything, he wanted to be able for her to find comfort in him so he could be there for her, and see to her happiness was his top priority.
His eyes trailed to the ground as his thoughts began to wander. He did want her happy, yes, but a part of him worried that she didn't like him as much as he liked her. His tail flicked back and forth. 'What if she likes Hediki more? What if she doesn't like me? Or what if she does, but the minute she finds how useless I am, how blind I am, that she will hate me!' His ears drooped briefly before forcing them to stand again. He turned and smiled to her.
It was such a fake smile, but it was so so hard to tell. He had wanted to perhaps tell her of his blindness, she would be the first he would confess his growing blindness to, but his growing worries suddenly made him second guess it all. He tried to push the negative thoughts away, her happiness, was his priority.

OOC: Apologies for taking so long to post, life is so busy atm ;_; Hopefully after Tuesday, things will clear up a bit.
IC: Noticing his tail start to wag, she couldn't help but let out a soft giggle. He was definitely something alright. Well, at least her comment about wanting to hang out with him more didn't put him off. If if did, she didn't what the rest of the day would look like. Probably really awkward. As of now, it was just barely evident that he felt something towards her and although her pelt itched with thoughts and questions, she stayed quiet. Better not get ahead of myself.
Still walking at a relatively slow pace, Lily looked to him when he asked a question. "Not much," she started. Unfortunately, it was the truth, no matter how boring it may have been. Although she was an official ranked wolf, life had been a bit slow for the young wolf and more than a few times she'd found herself sitting around the den-site, wondering what to do. "I mean, I guess my hunting has been pretty successful, but other than that..." Lily added and ended in a mumble, knowing that rambling on wasn't going to peak his interest. "How about you?" it was a simple question but a necessary one all the same, unless she wanted to look rude.

(Its fine, I get it, hence why it took me until now to reply to this as well.)
Ceiko took a glance at her, and as they moved into a deep shadow of one of the Canyon territory's tree, he found himself squinting to see her. His pelt prickled a bit at her question. The truth was everything has been difficult. Hunting was the most difficult next to battle training. Patrolling was easy, but there was no telling how far a rank as a warrior would go as I continue to grow blind. It was a daunting thought to him.
"Well, I suppose things have been decent, I have been doing a lot of training. I'm sure it wont be long before I get my official rank." His words were much more confident then he felt, not to mention much much more cheerful.
He took a distracted glance to the sky and found that sunset was not far, his mind buzzed with the worry that he would get stuck out here in the dark. He knew he would have trouble placing one foot in front of the other if darkness fell and they were still out. However, despite his worries, he shook his pelt out to try and hide it.

Listening to Cieko, they padded onward, and she was glad to hear that everything was going alright, even if she was able to sense something else was up with him. "That's good to hear, I suppose," she said softly. Something was up with him and although he didn't want to admit it, she would find out sooner or later. "Are you sure everything is alright?" she questioned. "It's not that hard to tell that something is up," the she-wolf asked, hoping he'd talk. Although she wasn't the friendliest at times, she still cared about her pack-mates.

Ceiko took a glance over at her, very few wolves ever seemed to ask him about how he felt. He paused in his tracks and looked at his paws.
"My greatest appologies. It seems I have caught myself in a rather heart-pounding situation, I'm not complaining, yet its still a bit daunting. None the less, it... doesnt really matter." He let out a sigh, he wasn't ready to admit just yet what he felt about her, and he worried she would see him differently if he told her. Every fiber of his body ached with the worry of the scene that piled atop his shoulders.

Stopping a few paces away from Ceiko when he stopped, Lily looked at the slightly younger wolf, a bit surprised that she'd actually gotten anything out of him. Well, although it wasn't much, it was something, to say the least. "Well, it must be something," the tan she-wolf started, tilting her head a bit and soon realizing why he wouldn't tell her. He didn't have her full trust. "Come on, you can tell me. I won't laugh, o-or tell anyone," Lily said softly. She never meant for him to see her as untrustworthy and hoped he would open up a little more, for now her curiosity was at its peak and her pelt itched to know what he had to say.

Ceiko watched her, taking her promise to heart. He shook out his pelt, as if to brush off any worries that she would judge him negatively for what he was about to say. He didn't want her to see him any differently.
What if she wanted a strong, healthy mate. One who wasnt tainted by the terrible genetics he carried, the ones that deemed him blind. The genetics that would soon leave him to retire from any helpful and active rank in the pack.
He let out a sigh, "I'm just worried is all. I don't know if you knew, but Broken is my mother, and shes blind." He paused looking at the ground, his hackles prickled with worry of telling her, just half hoping she would catch on. His eyes staring vacantly at the ground as light faded from the sky.

Hoping that her promise had convinced him to tell her what was on his mind, Lily stayed quiet, watching as her breath disappeared into the chilly air. Turning her gaze back to him, she titled her head in curiosity when he mentioned his mother. What did his mother's blindness have to do him? It took her a few moments to think about Ceiko's comment and although she was still a bit confused, she decided to go with the first thing that popped into her head. Might as well ask and if she was wrong then so be it, right?
"So..." she started, trying to gather her thoughts. "Are you trying to say that... you think you're going to end up like her?" the tan she-wolf asked, looking into the male's eyes and hoping she hadn't somehow offended him.

Ceikos eyes flared with a struggle between anger and lost hope, despairation and dispair. It was perhaps the first time he showed any real emotion to anybody. Every part of him seemed to melt, like water past a broken dam. "Think? Lily, I AM going blind. I can't see you anymore in this falling darkness."
He shook his head as if to shake off a bug from his ear. "I don't expect you to understand, I don't expect anyone to understand. Something as simple as the lovely sight of freshly fallen snow, glittering underneath the cool afternoon light, something as simple as being able to see the newborn pups in the nursery, something... something as simple as seeing you, your gorgeous fur and dazzling eyes that sparkle brighter then any star." He looked down at his paws, "Its a sight I have forgotten quite a while ago, but often try to remember.. but its all a blur now."

Surprised by his sudden burst of somewhat angry emotions, Lily's ears fell flat on her head and she looked away from Ceiko and to the sky. She had no idea what had been going on with him and used to his usual quietness, she didn't really know how to deal with his emotional state. Of course, any wolf would feel hopeless and lost when loosing something like sight or scent, but as much as she tried to understand what was happening to him, she just couldn't relate.
Though when he mentioned her, Lily's head shot back to him. He... he felt that way about her? Staying quiet, she didn't know what to say and almost wondering if he'd actually meant to say that, seeing that he seemed pretty distressed. Heart beating fast and standing still like a scared piece of prey, thoughts and questions ran throughout her mind as she scrambled to control her thoughts.
After a few moments of semi-awkward silence, Lily cleared her throat, still a bit scared at what he might reply with. "I-I'm sorry," she mumbled, her shoulders dropping and her once curious and shocked expression turned sad. "I never knew you were going blind," geez, how did she talk about the subject without hitting a sensitive spot in the male's soul, especially with her being horrible at comforting? Growing up in the Tribe, she'd never been taught to feel emotions other than despair and anger, so being in this situation was turning out more difficult than she'd originally imagined.
"Listen... I'm not the greatest when it comes to emotional stuff," Lily started again, still stumbling for words. "But if it makes you feel any better, I think you'll be able to manage, even without your sight." That was her, always stating the cold hard truth. "I mean, you can still walk, talk, scent where things are. Losing your eyesight may seem like the end of the world to begin with, but you're strong and I bet you'll push right through it. Besides, everything that happens comes with a purpose and maybe there's a silver lining to this whole ordeal," she finished with a reassuring smile, although she soon remembered that he probably wasn't able to see her.
Taking a side step towards Ceiko so that they stood close enough for their pelts to touch, the tan she-wolf nudged under his chin with her muzzle, taking in his warm, peaceful scent. "No matter what happens, I'll always be here for you," she said softly, pushing away the fact that she's never done something like this before, since there was always a first time everything. Thinking more about everything, she had feelings for Ceiko and that was that. Her father and his followers weren't here to disapprove of her emotions or choices, and for one of the first times since she'd left her previous home to join the Pack, she felt truly free.
OOC: omg, was this the fastest and longest that I've posted for you so far? :0 Accomplishment!

Ceiko listened to her words, giving up on trying to even pick out her figure or even if she were merely looking his way. He stared vacantly down at the ground. He had said it. It was out, he admitted it and now it was more true then ever. His ear twitched at her stuttered appology, "I don't want you to be sorry, there's no reason for you to feel sorry for something you can't fix."
His words were sharp, bitter and almost cynical. He hadn't meant it that way, but that's just how it came out. He was trying to control it, but he had finally let it out, what he had been containing for so long. Now that he had done so, it was hard to bottle it back up again. Especially as he continued to listen into what she had to say. Her voice seemed steady, well thought out. She was trying to protect him from her own words.
'I don't need protection. Yes, I hate this, but this won't make me as vulnerable as a pup. I'm still capable of acomplishing things, and holding my own against any phrase,' he thought bitterly over the agonizing topic. He rolled his eyes, almost forgetting she could see him if it weren't too dark yet, 'A pup can walk, a pup can talk and scent things. An elder can do those things, anyone can, but that doesn't sound very confident that you beleive in my capability. This has been gradual, and I've pulled my own all this time, and now suddenly I admit to my blindness and its like I'm not at all capable?' He thought scoffing under his breath.
Ceiko denied the statement in his mind, seconds after she said it, 'what can possibly be any good from being blind.' Her flat tone throughout the whole thing almost seemed to him as if she hadn't even noticed what he said at all. He hadn't meant to admit to anything that way or so soon like this, but he had and she just seemed to try and let him down.
He cursed at himself on the inside for not trying to talk it out more in the daylight and trying to see her expressions as best as he could, to match it up more with the sound of her voice, the sparkle of truth in her eyes. He wished he could see it all, all the signs that could tell him otherwise of his thoughts, the body movements that were hidden to him in the dark. However he quickly denied such a thought of the possibility of warm emotions towards him other then that of a sibling.
His thoughts however, were quickly melted away, like ice along thin streams in the winter. His body froze up as she pushed her muzzle beneath his chin. He found himself in such a shock, in surprise of it all. Soon after he could comprehend it more, he forced his fur to settle, his tailtip flicking back and forth slightly at first and then more.
He felt his heart race with happiness like it were filled with the adrenaline of his first step outside of camp. He closed his eyes contentedly, and took in every bit of her scent. He forgot of his angers and emotions, as he felt her warm body near his, a tranquility quickly overwhelming him and found himself speachless.

For a few moments, Lily didn't bother to say a word and stood next to the male, enjoying the moment. She'd never felt butterflies in her stomach or the warm sensation in her chest before, but it felt wonderful. So this is what love feels like. All her life, she'd never known how to feel this way and all this time she thought it was something that she needed to practice, but in reality, love towards someone came naturally.
Lifting her muzzle from under his chin, she met Cieko's almost fully blind gaze, close enough so that he could feel the heat of her breath. She wasn't going to hold back, not anymore. Her bland and horrible past was in the past and it was time for her to move on; to be more open. And that's exactly what she intended to do. "Cieko," she started, swallowing the lump of fear in her throat. "I love you. I know it may seem sudden, but all my life I've never met someone like you, but now... I have," she said softly, wondering how he would take her words. Would he be shocked? Or maybe he felt the same way?
Keeping her eyes on him, she waited for a reply, holding her breath and listening to nothing other than her heartbeat that overwhelmed the once known silence.
