Leafa's belly had grown quite a lot since the time she'd become a warrior...
It was around dawn when the pain hit her. Leafa's eyes snapped open as the sharp pain tore at her stomach. She let out a pained yelp out of instinct. She was groggy and disoriented. Leafa had no clue what was happening. She felt another stabbing pain and her stomach which could only mean one thing: she was about to have pups.

Soba, in the same den, of course heard Leafa's yelp, he lifted his head, a worried look in his eye. "Are you okay?" he asked, obviously she wasn't if she was yelping in pain, but he didn't know what else to say. The pups couldn't be here already, could they? He thought.

"The pups," she grunted. The pain was getting more intense as he traveled through her stomach.

Soba turned, should he go get Elpis? He looked back at Leafa, seeing the pain she was in. There wasn't time, he had to be here for her. He looked outside the den, searching for a good sized stick for her to bite on, anything to soothe the pain in anyway. He saw one, and thanking the ancestors for its closeness, he picked it up and brought it back to Leafa. "Bite down on it, it'll help." He said, hoping its would help.
The pup kicked, trying to force its way out of the tightness of wherever it was.

Hearing a yelp come from the nearby common den, Avikii got to his paws in a hurry. He pushed his way into the crowded den, shocked at the sight that lay in front of him.
Leafa, sprawled across the den floor in a huffing fit of pain. Pups? Already? He thought in confusion, slight jealousy piercing his heart. Th alpha turned, shaking off the feeling, then debating on whether or not to find Elpis. He hadn't seen her all morning, hardly at all during the day, for all he knew she could be out collecting herbs. There wouldn't be time, the male thought. Avikii turned again to face Leafa,there wasn't much he could do other than watch.

Leafa clamped her jaws down on the stick when Avikii came over. She didn't notice him through the haze of pain, and she was barely able to keep track of Soba. She grunted and her head settled on the ground. She wanted the pain to just stop.

Leafa had gone through a very long time of pain and agony, but the pups were finally at her belly and suckling. Leafa's eyes were glazed and exhausted. The pain had subsided, but it was still slightly there. She panted heavily, but a tired smile was on her muzzle.

Soba inched closer to Leafa, getting a look at the newborn pups. He smiled, licking his mate's cheek. "They're so beautiful," he commented, "that one looks a bit like you" he chuckled.
The newborn pups, soon to be known as Hoja, squirmed at her mothers side.
