Dawn was waiting by the entrance of camp for any wolf who wanted to join her for a patrol. Her eyes darted around at the commotion as she spotted a wolf coming towards her.

Takoni had seen Dawn, a newer subordinate, waiting by the entrance of the den site, which lead his to suspect she was waiting for a patrol. He approached her, and stood beside her. "I'm guessing you're waiting to go on a patrol?" He asked, making sure he had guessed right.

"Yeah i am." Dawn replied as a little pup bounded towards her. "Can i come too?" Faolan asked. "No sorry pups can't go out of the den site." Dawn's amber eyes looked at the male pup as she. "But i'll bring something nice back for you."

Dawn followed behind Takoni silently as she picked up a scent of deer. "Oh!" she whispered when a brown tail popped out form behind a bush. "You go left i take right." she whispered as she stalked right not making a sound at all and then she wailed which sent the deer flying in Takoni's direction.

Takoni, surprised at how quickly Dawn had scented and found the deer, paused for a moment. As she spoke it took him a moment to process her command, but he wasted no time to inch his body towards the left of their prey.
To his dismay the younger female let out a yowl, to scare the deer away. The rush of the deer took him by surprise, yet the experienced wolf managed to swipe a claw across the deer's flank, slowing it down to allow him to latch onto the creature with his teeth.

Feeling surprised she thought that the older wolf would've been prepared for her. She leaped onto the deer as it let out a wail and did a hard blow to the neck stunning it as she bit into the prey. As it collapsed she leapt off and landed with a thud. "Wow great teamwork!" Dawn exclaimed feeling that she shouldn't praise a older wolf.

Takoni let the deer fall limp from his grasp, seeing that Dawn had finished the kill. It was a luck catch, especially for this time of year when most of the larger mammals migrate out of the valley, but he was thankful nonetheless. Glancing at Dawn, he smiled at the younger wolf's enthusiasm. "It sure was, you did great. I wouldn't be surprised if Crescent gave you an official rank soon."

"Thanks." Dawn blushed as she replied. "Do want to try our luck and keep hunting or head back?" She knew there was still some chance of catching more prey but why waste the energy? Her amber eyes darted back and forth looking for some prey if he said so.

"No problem." The male held his small smile, before glancing to the side. "I think he can hunt some more, I'm pretty sure all the bison have moved out of the valley, but we can try to scent for some elk, hopefully there'd be a few left."

"Okay then." Dawn replied with a shrug. She padded off in the opposite direction of camp and scented the air nearby. "I've found a trail!" she excitedly whispered as she saw some paw prints in the ground. "But i don't know what it is." Her head bent down low as she followed the trail and it led to a bush full of withered berries. The bush started shaking causing all the berries to fall off this startled Dawn as two little mice popped out and ran for their lives. Dawn knew she only had enough time to catch one so she hoped that Takoni could get the other. She ran to her left and grasped onto the mouse slicing it's body so it started limping making it an easier kill her claws enveloped the mouse making no escape and she killed it with a blow to the neck. Dawn turned around to see how well Takoni had done.

Takoni didn't bother to respond yet kept a keen eye on the small trail ahead, it was another lucky find. Again, prey showed itself. He quickly reacted, seeing as Dawn could catch the other mouse, he went for the other. The male slammed his paw down on the ground, pinning the mouse. It let out a frail squeak and he flicked an ear in response.
In a swift movement he bent over and snapped the creatures neck with his teeth.

"Good job!" Dawn praised feeling more welcomed to do so. "I think we should head back now." she stated as she picked up her mouse and headed back to the deer so they could take it back to camp.

Dawn pushed the deer weirdly from the back making her fur all messy she called. "Hey Axoltl guess what i brought back for you!" She stepped in front of the deer trying to hide it from the little pup but she knew it was no use. "It was mostly Takoni's catch." She was being modest but she didn't want to draw that much attention. "Um Takoni can you be like a mentor?" she asked not really sure if this was how it worked.

Faolan raced out of a den when Dawn called him. "It's a deer!" he exclaimed excitedly. "How could you pull that off?" he thought it was mostly the older warrior's catch but he was proven wrong.

Jetta saw Dawn helping Takoni pull a deer into camp and excitedly bounced over to them to inspect their catch. "wow, good job!" She cheered, glad to see something that actually looked good to eat.
