Closed to ~ Swift
It had been a few days since the day Hediki and Swift had trained together atop the Little Butte, along with their OxBow exploration with Ceiko and Axolotl. During the time between then and now, He had asked her to join him on a nighttime exploration to the same spot, the Old OxBow. To his surprise, she agreed, and the two decided on tonight. Most of the pack had gone to sleep by now and Hediki found himself waiting in the common den for the perfect time to get up. After a while of listening to his pack-mates snores, he lifted his head and glanced around the den. He spotted Swift on the opposite side of the packed den, two wolves sleeping peacefully between him and her.
"Swift." He called quietly at first, not daring to call louder in case he woke one of the older wolves.

Swift grunted softly, pulling herself from her sleep, she blinked the exhaustion from her eyes. She regretted falling asleep, for she felt even more exhaustion now. She paused and furrowed her eyebrows, staring ahead and wondering why she was awake again. Suddenly it came to her, she glanced over at Hediki, her eyes wide with excitement.

Hediki grinned, standing up slowly and watching where he placed his paws as he began to quietly exit the den. "You ready to go?" He asked, his muzzle covered with a wide, eager smile. He was obviously excited to be sneaking away from the den site, even if it wasn't technically sneaking since they were officially ranked wolves, but he still found the same excitement from it.

Swift made her way out after him, her footsteps were lightly placed. She merely rolled her eyes at him, and nudged his side with her body at his excitement. "As ready as I'll ever be," she remarked, smirking as she used the same phrase he had when they had last trained.

He kept himself from stumbling forward as she nudged him, instead placing a paw out for support. He worked his was across the den site clearing, glancing around to make sure there wasn't any wolf to notice them. Surprisingly, there wasn't anyone guarding the dens site at the moment. The young warrior pushed that thought away though as he lead Swift towards the edge of the clearing, and finally out into the territory, carefully placing his paws away from loose stones as he descended the slope.

Swift followed Hediki out of the camp, she watched as he placed his footsteps carefully. Once, they were far enough, she pretended to slip and pushed him, somewhat with the hopes he would actually slip.

Hediki felt a weight press into him from behind, in surprise he turned to look, seeing Swift bump into him. Upon looking backward he basically just confused himself into actually falling, on top of misplacing a paw. The warrior tumbled a bit, but easily stopped himself, considering they were closer to the base of the hill now anyways.
Once he had gotten back to his paws, and shaken his pelt free of debris, he glanced up at Swift. "Hey! Did you do that on purpose?" It didn't seem very likely, but knowing Swift's personality it was certainly an option.

Swift shook her head, "nope, not at all." She smirked, giggling a bit, if her tone and forced back smile were not a tell enough, the giggling very well should have been. She glanced at him briefly before heading off in a jog ahead so he couldn't do anything to her.

"Liar!" He challenged, yet another smirk drifted upon his muzzle and he found himself quickly scurrying to his paws, watching as Swift easily got past him before he could nip at her. The warrior trotted to catch up with her, slowly down once he grew nearer.
"You and I both know you did that on purpose." He spoke up, leaning forward to eye her.

Swift grinned as she looked at him, "oh, did I?" She asked him, playing dumb. "What could possibly make you think I wanted to make you slip?" There was a certain sarcasm to her voice that hinted the obviousness of the situation, but not only that made a light hearted joke of it. Her tail waved back and forth as they walked, a bit of an involuntary motion of her content and excitement over the moment.

Hediki breathed a playful scoff, "oh you know exactly why you would pull a stunt like that." He reminded her, smiling a bit as he began to notice her loosen up even more.
The pair continued forward, moving peacefully through their moonlit territory, dodging snow clumps here and there that haven't quite melted all the way yet. Soon, enough Hediki found himself at the edge of the creek, which was also their border before crossing into neutral territory. He glanced over at Swift before smirking and placing a fore paw into the water.
"Hope it's not too chilly for you." He teased, knowing of her thinner fur coat. Then, the warrior submerged himself into the slow-flowing waters, wading his way toward the other side and being careful where he put his paws.

Swift glared at him bitterly, it seemed to have forgotten to cross her mind she had to cross the river before she could get to the oxbow. Especially at such a freezing time of night, she never would have agreed. However, she wasn't going to let Hediki get the best of her by watching her mouse out even if it was a fairly legitamate complaint. She muttered under her breath as she quickly crossed the river as fast as she could before her joints got any more stiff.

Hediki pulled himself out of the water, watched as Swift followed quietly after. He brushed by her, a few paces a way before shaking out his pelt, spraying water droplets but yet they were out of range from hitting Swift. It was obvious the smaller she-wolf was cold from the quick dip in the creek, so he didn't bother being rude by getting more water on her.
The warrior looked up, taking a glanced around the neutral territory.

Swift climbed out, watching as Hediki went ahead, she took no time however, to shake her pelt of as much water as she could. She started walking forward hurriedly in attempt to keep her body temperature risen. She headed quickly over towards Hediki and started to pass him as she continued walking past him with a somewhat fast pace.

Hediki eyed her with a questionable expression, watching as she sped off ahead. That gave him an idea.
He trotted up beside her, looking over to meet her gaze. "Hey," he started in a soft tone, giving her a false sense of emotion. He suddenly began to grin. "Last one to the Old OxBow is crow-food!" He jeered, and without a moments pause, dashing forward, kicking up bits of dirt as he sped on.

Swift grunted spitting out bits of dust that hit her muzzle. She shook her head with a grunt, she had no intentions on running, however she was not ready to let him beat her so easily. She quickly picked up speed and broke out into a run after him. Each muscle in her body was still, almost refusing to move at all. She grunted as she tried to stretch them out and push her legs farther to go faster.

Hediki glanced behind him, watching as Swift slowly gained speed, he smiled, happy that she hadn't just ignored his little game. He looked a head again and now that he was running, he could begin to see the clumps of sage brush that surrounded the OxBow.

Swift pressed herself faster, her speed picking up more and more steadily. Her body whipped down the hillside swiftly, tall grass fronds whipping by her body as she bolted past them. She leapt over a branch and stumbled a bit out of clumsiness, but quickly fixed herself and pushed herself for the last length.

The OxBow was growing nearer, Hediki skidded to a halt, then quickly glanced behind him to check how close Swift was. Close. He stood there and waited, occasionally glancing over his shoulder as the crescent shaped body of water behind him.

Swift was a bit less then a fox-length behind him, she yelped, stumbling over her paws as she tried to skid to a halt. She pressed her ears back, her eyes wide as she went flying into the curved river. Swift made a brief grunt of shock as she was in the air, but it was quickly cut off as she disappeared under the dark waters, only a few bubbles remained in her wake.
