Three new pups had finally come of age, and Crescent was looking forward to finally be ranking them up. She jumped up onto the boulder and howled to summon the pack.

Aspen bounced over to High Boulder and sat down next to Alistair. "Isn't this going to be exciting?" she whispered to the older male wolf.

Alistair glanced down at the pretty she-wolf. "I guess." he shrugged while taking a little peek at Midnight who was very far away from them. "Wonder what's up with her?"

Midnight padded towards the edge of the group not wanting to be part of the duo. She noticed Alistair take a little look at her and she scowled at him.

Seeing all three of the pups in question had made their way over to the rock, Crescent decided to begin. "Tonight, I have gathered you all to appoint a pup to the rank of Subordinate. Aspen, Alistair and Midnight, please step forward."

The young she-wolf puffed up her chest and stepped forward just like the alpha had said. She watched Midnight hesitate before doing so.

The eldest male stepped forward and stopped only to find Aspen facing the other way.

Midnight took half-a-step before she glared at Aspen staring at her. She flattened her ears before finally stepping forward and calming herslef.

Crescent looked straight down at each of the tree pups in turn, an utterly serious expression on her face. "Alistair, Midnight and Aspem, you have all reached the age to become a subordinate. Do you all promise to uphold the Wolf-Laws and protect the pack, even at the cost of your life?"

"I do!" Alistair and Aspen swore in unison, their voices ringing around the den site. They would definitely be heard by all wolves around.

"I do!" Mindight had finally decided not to be so suspicious to other wolves and joined in a bit later than the other two. She hated having a subordinate ceremony with other wolves who were more immature.
