Ceiko turned his attention towards her voice, and replied with something rather salty, "Yeah I can smell something that sticks out." He grumbled, but caught himself before going much further. He smelled herbs, heaps of them, it was the medicine den and he felt as though the scent swamped him each time he entered. Especially when Elpis collects fresh herbs. With such a stubborn remark, it would lead to beleive that Ceiko really knew nothing. This, which was in fact quite true. He knew the scents of a few herbs, but only if their individual scent could spark his memory. As for now, it was nothing but a huge tangled scent of herbs.

Elpis sighed. "Now I'm not expecting you to be an expert right away," she paused, "but I am expecting you to try. Even if it is the faintest of smells mixed in with the others, name it. You won't go far if you continue to posses a degree of disappointment in yourself." She stepped closer to him. "I am a young healer. I am smaller than most, but that doesn't stop me from doing my job. I chose this path because I was afraid to fight, but you're doing it because you wish to in ways that you may or not be aware of. I want to see that effort in this training." She used her tail to push a clove of wild garlic by him. "Now, what can you smell next to us?"

Ceiko nodded gruffly, and scented the air again. Suddenly he heard the slight brush against the ground. She moved something close to him. He bent down to try and get a closer whiff but recoiled quickly as the pungent scent of garlic hit his nose. He cringed, wiggling his nose as he regretted getting so close. "Garlic, that is undeniably garlic" he commented. Garlic was once scent once you knew, you couldn't forget as easily.

Elpis smiled. "Good, and you let your nose guide you to where it was even with my little hint. Now if I were to move that back in with the rest, do you think you would be able to locate it still?"

Ceiko grunted, "I'm going to pass out from all these pungent smells by the time we are finished." He shook his head, finally nodding in reply to her question.

Elpis changed the tone in her voice a bit. It was less sweet and more encouraging. "Just think of it this way, Ceiko. If you can detect it with your nose with all these other smells mixed in and 'suffocating' you," she pushed it in with the rest of the herbs," then you'll be able to easily find it in the wild where they are not mixed in with one another."

Ceiko grunted simply in response, biting back the smart remark that in the wild, the herbs could be a great distance away. Too far in fact, even for the strength of his nose. He flicked his tail, his ears twitching as he noticed her push it back among the other herbs once more.

Elpis stood. "If you really do mean business, then I highly suggest putting this 'I can't' attitude aside." She went towards the entrance of the den and looked out it. "If you can't do a small task in here," she looked back at him," then what makes you believe you could do the same out there?" She swung her head back out the entry way as she spoke. "You have to push yourself despite thinking of Impossibilities." She sat there. "Do you really even want to be here, working in a position such as this?"

Ceiko glanced her way, his ear flicked as the thought crossed his mind, 'well it's better then being an elder.' He simply dipped his head in response, "fine then. Yes I do." He responded one sided-ly.
