Malikai sat rigidly in the little clearing the tribe had settled in, his pelt prickling in in attempt to keep warm against the harsh winter air. It smelt of snow. Perhaps this nice, warm weather they had now for a while wouldn't last for much longer. The dark-muzzled male really wished it had stayed loner, with the warmth came an abundance of prey, every wolf knew how hard it was to hunt prey up in Upland Meadows. The tribe wolves were scrawny for a reason, thank the Fear-Wolves for Titan's training. Without it, they would be a bunch of shrimps compared to the pack wolves, the training was the only way these wolves could gain muscle at an easy rate.
The male closed his eyes for a brief moment, lavishing in what remained of the sky's dying light and warmth, wishing it would stay a little longer, at least until most of the elk returned. Just then, light, small paw steps caught in his ear. He snapped his head around to get a glimpse of the little cub nearby.

The ash and smoky chrome cloaked cub ambled at a leisure pace, her ears laying almost horizontally against her crown as her dull zircon glinted optics remained focused on what laid ahead in her path. She hadn't been associated with the Rūju Tribe for very long, perhaps two to three months, but even then, the young pup, almost a yearling, was growing- and she was more than glad to be doing so. She noticed how ruthless these wolves acted, and was aware of their overall thought process and mindsets. Quartz wasn't a stranger to her mentality, and instead was very familiar with her mind and thoughts. It's a prime reason why she can easily sympathies with others, and dislikes seeing others damaged in any way, shape, or form. The young she-wolf had seen how the older, many novices of the tribe had tattered the russet hued brute during combat 'training'. The poor male had looked defeated and stripped of every spark of dignity he possibly owned. Quartz had never killed anyone, however she knew that was going to have to change if she wished to remain a specimen of the Rūju Tribe.
She looked up, breaking away from her hurricane of a mind and noted the older looking brute, laced in dark hues, such as herself, however his owned more dimension and... character. He looked strong and masculine; intimidating, much, and potentially held an authoritative position. However, the young one wasn't a fool. She knew how the tribal leader acted, and only wished to see his group thrive in strength and members, and would not tolerate a novice- cub, even, becoming damaged due to an older wolf out of sheer spite. So for the most part, the scrap knew she would be safe.
Quartz inhaled and took a step forward, her eye level positioned just below his, thus not making direct eye contact, but keeping her approach submissive. She offered him a brief nod, as in 'greetings' though wasn't expecting one in return. Possessing a limp tail, she proceeded forward toward the svelte male and soon would take a seat next to him. She avoided eye contact, however kept her posture straight and poised, just reminding herself not to reveal weakness- especially in front of one of her peers. There, she waited. Waited until the dark brute retorted to her entrance. She already knew he was aware her presence before she even encountered him, so Quartz was embracing herself for him to spat something completely cruel and cold-blooded.
(OOC: Hope this is okay? Also, the 'russet' male she was referring to was meant to be characterized as Storm. Hope that's alright as well!)

Malikai flicked a slim dark ear in response to her nod, the lean yet well muscled wolf cocked his head only slightly to steal a sideways glance down toward the younger, his dull blue optics resting on her for only a brief moment before settling back on the land that lay before him. The male let out what sounded like a scoff before fully turning his attention to the she-cub, realizing she was sticking around. He had seen her before, either messing around with the other cubs or simply relaxing among the tribe, she thankfully seemed to be able to quickly pick up on their ways of life, unlike a few of the other cubs they had picked up here and there.
The dark-muzzled male saw the younger wolf as a good member of the tribe, perhaps she'd turn out better than Luna. He truly did despise the novice, how she never seemed to understand the rogue way of violence of brute force. Malikai snapped his attention away from that subject and back toward the little cub that had come to sit by him. He tried to recall her name, he hadn't heard it often and it wasn't coming to him at the moment. Maybe it would later on.
Malikai kept his cool, stone-hard gaze on her, one of which wouldn't reveal the countless thoughts that crashed like a waterfall through his mind. "You need something?" The wolf questioned, his voice low, somewhat scratchy, yet strong all the same.

She kept her blunt, washed away expression set ahead of her, her ear flicking every other second, awaiting to hear the vocals of the male. Though, to her surprise, the older male hadn't spat words of poison, and instead addressed her as a civilized canine. She allowed a few seconds of sheer silence wash over the two, as that happened, the young female was audiating her response, heedfully picking her words with great consideration. Quartz shifted her skull, as in turning down his question, though then decided to use her vocals, considering she hadn't in awhile, and was questioning if she even still had a voice to communicate properly. "No sir," The cub retorted, her vocals falling low and smooth. "I just wanted to learn about my peers. If I intend to become one with this tribe, I'd better begin now." Quartz added, altering her snout up toward the inky brute, tapering her brows, just to assure the male that she was indeed being earnest about her decisions. Perhaps since she was already here, she could get a few answers out of the older canine- however Quartz decided she'd save her breath, at least until she received a reaction from the male. Though she was careful to keep her full intentions undecipherable.

Malikai shifted, a gruff snort escaping him as he turned once more to glare down at the younger wolf with a dark, gelid gaze. If she didn't need anything, why had she approached me?
"So, you want to learn more about your peers do you know?" He repeated her words. She claimed to not need anything, yet she brings up the topic off picking up actions and behavior from the rest of the tribe. He could certainly educate her on their ways...
Then as she continued, the words 'if I intend to become one with this tribe' stuck in his ears. "What do you mean if you intend to stay? You're already here, why would you leave?" Malikai growled, his words coming out sharp. If the thought of not bothering to stay had crossed her mind, why haven't I bothered to run her out yet? They needed to determined wolves in their tribe, not two-faced ones that had yet to make up their mind on staying. Of course, the assassin didn't have that authority, it was Titan's job to control the tribe's population, apart from cub birthing of course. He merely stood there, waiting for an answer.

Quartz lowered her glare as the male began on speaking, her ears flicking toward his every word. She offered him another nod, agreeing as he repeated her former statement. However her expression hadn't flinched toward his abrupt alter in tone. She shifted uncomfortably on her paws, though attempted to conceal her unease through a vocalized response. "I..." Quartz lingered on the word for a brief moment, plucking her words heedfully. "I want to learn the ways of the Rūju Tribe," she attempted to conceal her previous mention of 'intend' if it were to just ease the male's nerves. Though finally, the cub had picked a selection of words, in which she thought could reassure the older wolf. "I have no intentions on fleeing, and even if I were to, I'd have no where to go. I've... I've never really found much enjoyment in 'pack-life'." The young one wasn't so certain she found full sincerity in her words, though managed to convince herself otherwise. Scrap she auditated to herself, ducking her eyes in clear irritation with her own self.

Lifting his head from where it rested on his paws, Titan let out a yawn and looked around. Some familiar voices had woken up the dominant and although part of him wanted to continue laying in the patch of sun that he'd claimed, he knew that he needed to get up. Giving his pelt a shake, the male's well kept fur shimmered in the rays of sunlight that was starting to melt the snow. Unfortunately, the random burst of nice weather wasn't going to last forever and before he was able to enjoy the warm sun for too long, a chilly breeze ruffled his pelt and caused the dry field grass to blow back and forth. Lifting his muzzle to the sky, he noticed a dark blanket of clouds a little distance off and gave a sigh. Prey was already hard enough to find, still having not migrated towards their side of the valley and most of the small prey still huddled in their burrows, couldn't his Tribe get a break from winter's undying grasp?
Padding over to Malikai and a cub that they'd just recently found, he gave a short, low bark of greeting. "Hello Malikai, Quartz," the large muscular wolf barked in his usual low tone, and stood next to the other male, noticeably taller than him. Standing next to the Assassin, he towered over the cub who'd said something about enjoying tribe life. The male remembered finding the lone pup and although he wasn't one to adopt unknown wolves into the tribe, he was able to see potential in the cub.
"I'm glad to see a cub so eager on learning our ways," he started, looking from Malikai and then to the cub, his face blank. The dominant was good at giving praise, but he wasn't one to show must expression. Well, it wasn't like rouges were supposed to show must emotion to begin with. "But I hope you know that Tribe life isn't all daisies and sunshine," he warned, hoping the cub knew what she was getting herself into. If he saw any sign of weakness that would slow the Tribe down, he would teach the she-cub a lesson, and a permanent one at that...

Malikai nodded toward the approach of his dominate, yet make sure not to break his stiff sitting position. "Titan," was his only response along side the dip of his head, his voice in similar contrast to that of the slick-furred leader.
The dark-muzzled wolf flicked his ears occasionally at Titan's words, casting the cub a few glanced as well. So her name is Quartz, he thought, glad he didn't have to bother with asking for her name. The assassin offered up another slow nod, as in agreeing with the tall male on his other flank. He knew Titan would easily deal with Quartz if she showed signs of weakness, he had certainly offered the pariah a beating once or twice merely as a battle training tool and self pleasure in causing pain to the once mighty alpha. There was a part of Malikai that felt slightly bad for the russet colored wolf, yet that didn't stop him from joining the occasional taunts.
Malikai threw his attention back to the moment, eyeing Quartz and waiting to hear an answer from her.

Her spine was growing to the weight of concrete. She was growing more and more anxious around the elite, and could almost feel his penetrating eyes glaring down at her as if they were arrows. She knew she couldn't reveal any signals of fragility- even if she were still a cub. However, a deep and masculine voice had straightened her almost immediately as it registered into her ears. A large, multiple-toned canine approached her and the darker male, their coat colorizations contrasting dramatically. He mentioned her name, along with the other male's. So his name is Malikai... the young cub noted to herself, mimicking the brute's nod in greetings. Malikai replied to his statement, mentioning his title as 'Titan'. The tribal leader. Quartz figured that was his name, just wasn't too certain, at least until now.
The young she-cub flicked her ear toward the leader's compliment toward her ambitious nature to learn their ways, and in few cases- he was right. Quartz was rather intrigued as to their ways of surpassing life, and their stunningly impressive strength, due to their towering statures and physiques. She wanted to possess that strength and power. Quartz soon nodded gradually toward his subtle warning about tribe life, "I understand, Titan." The truth was, the little one was already aware of how tribe life functioned around the North. No mercy was given nor were second chances. Images of the tattered russet male flashed on and off within her head, sending icicles down her spine, though she didn't allow it to show. The ash coated female knew the two strong males were awaiting a retort of sorts from her, so she didn't keep them waiting. "I won't disappoint either of you." It was cliche, but she more than likely knew she just had the weight of the Earth shackled onto her paws; a death wish. She knew that those six simple words could cost her her life. What if she decided to flee the tribe? What if she revealed weakness? What if she failed Titan? Her mind began to race once again, however the young one gently shook her head, closing her glinting optics, pushing the 'what if's' aside, and focusing on the two aside her.
Flicking her tail briefly, Quartz waited for their response.

From the moment his weak legs had been able to bear his weight, Viserion had been upon his feet all day everyday. Everyday he spent an adequate amount of time playing games designed to harden both his strength and his desire to become a ruthless wolf. Today had been like every other day since his eyes opened and he gained the ability to walk- entertain himself, find some remaining scraps of a leftover kill, and steer clear of all the older wolves; he hadn't been in the mood to lose and ear for approaching an older wolf. Although today something different had caught his eye- another cub seemed to be speaking to a pair of older wolves. As he drew closer to the small group, he was able to nearly immediately recognize the hulking form of Titan- the Dominant of the Tribe. Since his birth, respect and fear of Titan had been ingrained in him till it became a large part of his personality and dictated most of his behavior. Trotting up to the small cluster that contained Titan, Quartz -whom he vaguely recognized from previous encounters when playing with the other cubs-, and the strange, dark male whom he didn't actually know. 'But why should I know him? Most of the older wolves 'round here just snap at you for even looking at them!' He reflected with an internal scoff, feet kicking up small scuffs of dead grass as he hurriedly closed the distance between himself and the group, just in time to hear Quartz's final words.
Viserion let out a wordless bark of greeting and quickly dipped his head afterwards, making an extra note to not make direct eye contact with either the unfamiliar dark wolf and Titan, before he dropped down onto his haunches, slouching over slightly. Cocking his head slightly, he was slightly curious as to why the older wolves were wasting their time speaking to cubs, but didn't dare ask the question directly. "Why would ya ever disappoint 'em? every wolf with half a brain knows what happens then." He questioned, voice still squeaky and unsteady from his youth as he addressed Quartz's earlier statement, gazing at the she-pup with curious eyes. His words were naive- although he did know the punishment for weakness or failure, he still wasn't fully able to grasp the true severity of the penalty. Refocusing his gaze upon his paws, hopeful that he hadn't spoken out of turn or too brashly- although some would argue that losing an ear by Titan's jaws would be honorable.

Silence fell through as the two older brutes suddenly fell silent. Had I stated something wrong? Why were they so quiet? The pup figured they were growing bored with her presence, though she knew she couldn't just rise and exit the conversation like she had some free ticket. She exhaled inaudibly as she continually shifted on her paws, though the gesture was brief. Her restraint was waning. She couldn't support her demeanor for much longer; as it was the only thing keeping her from commenting something foolish. She unlatched her secured jaws, wishing to vocalize her exit, however just as the pounding of light paws steps rang into her ears and then soon a bark of greetings, throwing her entire intention off it's own rails. Quartz locked her jaws and maneuvered her washed out zircon tinted optics to rest onto the tan tribal cub as he positioned himself down. She'd noticed him before messing the other pups, just has never gotten a chance to speak with him personally, and perhaps he could aid her in her exit. The ash cloaked pup's ear flicked slightly toward his statement. Quartz adjusted her optics to the corner of her eye again, fixed to glare at the tan male with a blunt expression, drowned with slight irritation toward his words. She had nothing to retort with, at least with nothing that wouldn't end her up in heaps of trouble. She was aware that she would have to adjust herself to retribution, and she praised that she would soon overgrow her angst- she just hoped it would be before she reached adulthood.

Giving a curt nod to show that he accepted what the cub had said, Titan was glad that she at least had the will to show confidence in her words, no matter how young she still was. Cubs... they were definitely something else, being the youngest members of the pack and oddly enough, the most spirited members. What an odd way of life, being the smallest and most innocent wolves of the group, and yet, they had the most pride, the most eager spirits. Which in the end, made sense, seeing that they looked up to most of tribe and had something to work towards.
Swiveling his ears to the found of tiny paw steps, Titan turned his head to see Viserion, another one of the Tribe's cubs. Letting out a soft scoff at the young wolf's comment about every wolf knows what happens then. Well, she wasn't wrong.
"She's right," the low voiced male started, looking from Viserion and back to Quartz. "I mean, if you need a visual, just look at the Pariah," Titan commented, tilting his head towards the edge of camp where the former Bison alpha sat, hunched over and emancipated, clearly starving. Although most wolves would've had pity for anywolf in such a state, it brought the dominant a dark sense of joy to see the former alpha looking like he did.

Malikai didn't have much of anything else to say. The tall male would just offer a nod here and there, agreeing with his dominate as his low, gruff voice filled the air around them.
He could guess that with the pariah being brought up, it would scare the cubs enough to where they wouldn't disobey or bring up second thoughts about remaining in the tribe. Any wolf was insane to desire to be like a pariah, or what the pack wolves called an omega. Malikai let out a soft growl. Even the pack "pariahs" were let off easy, the only thing done to them was not getting their fill of food, at least around here the tribe gave the old, hefty wolf a good thing to remember...
The dark-muzzle male flicked his attention back toward the conversation, which seemed to be dying down. He remained quite.

The young pup released a cluster of air through her nostrils as she departed her dull gaze from the tawny cloaked pup, her irritation gradually fading away. She understood where he was attempting to get at, but even a pup with half a brain would know the consequences of their faults- or perhaps something they couldn't control. Her glare traced the horizon's line, her patience growing dull by the minute. At this rate, she could potentially just rise and exit the discussion without another word, however she couldn't.
Her tail flinched briefly toward the tribal leader's words in reply, and her zircon optics rested on his facial features; anyplace but the eyes. Though Quartz merely offered him a nod in agreement. She was aware of the Pariah's current condition, and how he came to earn it, and felt it would just be a waste if she questioned it. Although, a part of her wanted to know who he was, and why Titan was so keen on targeting him- when there were so many other wolves who could actually out up a fight. So why was that wolf so significant? "Who is the Pariah?" Quartz inquired, attempting to keep her tone straight and balanced, concealing the small sparks of concern that hid away under her vocals as she held back the urge to depart her gaze from the leader's.

Viserion titled his head slightly to snatch at brief glance at Titan's face as he spoke, before following the Dominant's head to stare at the so-called Pariah, gazing at the skinny, thoroughly battered wolf with curiosity. He suppressed a scoff at the sight of the rather spineless Pariah- despite not really even knowing the Wolf, dislike had already become the only socially acceptable emotion he knew to display when it came to the low-ranking wolf. Squinting slightly to catch a better glimpse of the after mentioned creature, he became to preoccupied with thought to verbally respond to the Dominant. He was startled to hear Quartz speak, and he quickly twisted his head to gaze at her as she spoke, swallowing back any sort of sharp retort at her question due to his lack of wanting to lose any of his fur for speaking before Titan could. Part of him was slightly curious as to who the Pariah actually was prior to descending to such a low rank, but a blissful lack of knowledge over the lowly wolf also permanently absolved him of any lingering feelings. Viserion quickly looked up at Titan briefly before glancing back over at Quartz, mixed feelings of excitement and apprehension building within him as he awaited the answer to the steadily-voiced question.

Who was the pariah? Wasn't it obvious? Titan wanted to snap back a reply, but upon opening his jaw quickly shut it, realizing that cubs wouldn't know who Storm was and he might as well tell them. Besides, the more they knew, the better, right?
"The pariah is Storm, the former Bison pack alpha. He used to rule over the moorlands, but he chose to leave that life and now he's nothing more than a coward," the deep voiced dominant replied with a sneer, casting a glance to the older wolf who sat miserably at the edge of camp. Hmph, some alpha he was, leaving his pack with no liable reason. I wonder how the pack is doing without their precious leader. Hopefully rotting, he thought to himself, imagining Bison pack shriveling up into nothing but emancipated and starving wolves; a chaotic pack with no leader. Just the mere thought of that brought joy to the large wolf.

Malikai pinned his ears against the question asked by the cub known as Quartz. Who was the pariah? Who do you think! Malikai crinkled his nose as the question, it's the only wolf that's purposely battered and malnourished by the wolves who live among him, he thought, casting a harsh glare her direction, only fathoming about how Titan would react.
Yet to his surprise, the towering dominate actually answered her question sincerely. Malikai tossed his gaze upward, eyeing Titan with a questionable glint to his dull blue gaze. There was a hint of slight irritation showing on the dominate's face, plus the small twitch that flashed by in only a fraction of a second, so he had been annoyed, but had the sense to not go off on a pup. The assassin heaved a deep breath, now turning his attention to the other cub, who had yet to say something again. Malikai cocked the fur along the top of his eye.

The young pup sat utterly still, her expression never fracturing itself. She was growing rather curious to learn who that loner was, and what service he served her-- other than being a chewtoy. She flicked and ear briefly, awaiting for the male's response, and once she had received it, her teeth clinched tightly together. Sparks of vexation sparked within her dull zircon glinting optics as her glare wavered from the dominate's and onto the russet brute, whom sat a ways down. Quartz could feel her chest churning, and continual waves of heat washing over her physique, causing fur strands to prickle, however she managed to sooth the unease. A coward who can't protect himself the ash cloaked she-pup thought bitterly, her gaze narrowing as she proceeded to cast her gaze toward the tattered male.
Quartz managed to drown out her 'what-ifs' awhile ago, only focused on something completely new. She looked over, breaking her gaze from the pariah as her optics landed onto the scrawny, older looking brute, laced in dark hues. Her brows remained tapered, though her reasons were undecipherable. Mongrels she scowled internally again, her eyes soon descending onto her paws as her ears fell horizontally onto her crown. It took her effort not to remark with something that might slide off as arrogant. It took her much effort. She could merely offer them a simple nod in return. These wolves only target weaker wolves because they know it'll be an easy fight her mind noted as Quartz lifted her glare, positioning it onto the tan pup that rested close to her her side.

OOC: welp, idk if Seer will be posting anytime soon, so I'm just gonna post ><
IC: Titan watched as the cub observed the pariah and couldn't hold back a small smile at its look of disgust. That look, the thoughts about Storm being a coward, it was all exactly what the dominant had been striving for, and so far, he was fulfilling it. Giving his pelt a shake, Titan let out a soft huff, a smile still on his muzzle from his immoral "accomplishments."
"It's not only because he was a pack wolf that he became the pariah," the large wolf started in a warning tone. "Any wolf can become the pariah if I so choose," he finished, knowing that he didn't need to explain any more than that. If some wolf decided to defy his ways or go against the Tribe, they were most definitely going to be given the pariah status, but a lot of times, being given the rank of pariah compared to other punishments was actually a blessing...
