It was late afternoon and the darkening sky hadn't yet cooled the valley. Avikii stood outside his den, relaxing in the days slightly warm air, even though it was still what the pack considered winter, it had been warm that day. Then, the alpha got to his paws, taking in the amount of wolves, he smiled slightly, happy to see the pack at peace. He left those thoughts behind, for there were more important things to prepare for. He turned, jumping atop the den he had just stood beside, and faced his pack, lifted his head to the sky, and let out a low howl.
Today, a young wolf would gain an even higher rank. He stopped the howl, and looked down over his pack. Watching as wolves looked up and began to make their way over to the highstone.

Hediki looked up, hearing his alpha's howl. He was curious to know what this meeting was for so the young male quickly got to his paws and made his way over to the highstone, sitting down among his pack mates. Perhaps it was another new subordinate.

Soba looked up at the call of his alpha, he had been eating some left overs from the earlier hunt. Getting up, he walked over to the large rock and sat down beside his pack mates.

Avikii waited, watching as his pack gathered below the highstone. Finally, he continued. "Today a young, growing wolf will rank up to one of our lead positions." He paused, making sure the wolf he looked for was in the crowd, sure enough he was. "Hediki, please step forward."

Hediki perked his ears in surprise. Me? Ranking up? Yet, the warrior shrugged, a sudden flurry of excitement taking over as he got to his paws and made his way to the front of the crowd for the fourth time within the pack.

Avikii watched and waited as Hediki worked his way through the crowd, eventually coming to a halt below him and sitting down.
"Hediki," The alpha began, "you have proven yourself trustworthy, strong, reliable, it's truly amazing how far you have come considering your heritage." He paused, making sure he had his lines right. "So, with days of thinking, I have come to give you your new rank. Hediki, from this moment forward until you are named an elder, you will be known as a lead warrior. Continue to work hard and grow stronger, I know you will do well leading fights and battles." Avikii concluded, dipping his head in respect.

Hediki's breaths came in slow, his chest puffed out with pride and a large grin on his face. Once Avikii concluded, Hediki spoke up. "Don't worry, Avikii, I won't let you regret your decision." The newly named lead warrior finsihed, dipping his head in return.
