It was late afternoon and the darkening sky hadn't yet cooled the valley. Avikii stood outside his den, relaxing in the days warmer air, even though it was still what the pack considered winter, it had been warm that day. Then, the alpha got to his paws, taking in the amount of wolves, he smiled slightly, happy to see the pack at peace. He left those thoughts behind, for there were more important things to prepare for. He turned, jumping atop the den he had just stood beside, and faced his pack, lifted his head to the sky, and let out a low howl.
Today, a young wolf would gain an even higher rank, his daughter. He stopped the howl, and looked down over his pack. Watching as wolves looked up and began to make their way over to the highstone.

Swift was among the few wolves who gathered down beneath the highledge. She took a glance up to her father to hear what he had to say.

Avikii continued once he noticed Swift join the gathering crowd. "Swift, please step forward." He started, not bothering to inform his pack what the meeting was centered on.

Swift stood up, this time, slower. Her body shook just slightly with the excitement. It was obvious she was proud of her achievement not only by this but by how she held her head up high. Her tail waved like a flag behind her. She displayed a vast amount of maturity in comparison to the
pup in which she had once been.

"Now, Swift. I feel you have proven yourself worthy of a higher rank." His voice rang out across the group. Keeping his eyes on Swift, he continued. "So, this day forward until you're named an elder, you will be known as a lead warrior, working alongside Hediki. Continue to prove yourself, work hard, and pass your gained knowledge onto those younger." He dipped his head.

Swift nodded, proud to have a higher rank. She would do her father proud. Part of her smiled with pride, another part of her was satisfied that she was not to be stuck as a lesser rank. She did not need Hediki to tease her for being stuck a warrior under his command her whole life. Yet, there was still another part of her she could not describe. Satisfaction she had the rank? Worry that she would not fill up to her fathers expectations? [Well in all truth, both applied to her but neither were the feeling she felt bubbling within her. Instead, it was the fact that she was working asides Hediki once more.] Swift could not help it, her tail wagged hard with the satisfaction and content welled up within her.
