Ryka jumped up onto the tall rock in the center of their camp, it felt weird, honestly. She raised her muzzle and let a howl break the air to call the pack together, it would be hard to tell them this, after Storm left, but it had to be done. She looked out at the pack, few wolves turning their heads to look at her in confusion. She forced down a nervous gulp.

Takoni looked up from his spot on the outskirts of their den site, confused in the least to see Ryka standing atop the alpha's rock. However, he got to his paws, and slowly made his way over to the slowly gathering crowd of his pack mates. He sat down and waited for the beta to speak.

Sol, was wandering around the Bison Pack den site, bored, it was such a silent day, until Ryka, Bison Pack's Beta, broke the silence, she walked towards the Tall Rock, then she sat and gave a nod to Takoni in respect.

Chahta gathered herself from her perch upon an icy boulder, standing and pacing over to the gathering called by the Beta. Lowering her rump to the slush-ridden earth, she pushed her auditories forward, awaiting for Ryka to speak. Confusion plastered across her face.

Sitting bellow the Tall Rock, Comet waiting in anxiousness as Ryka jumped up to the rock. What in the Sky-Wolve's name was going on? Crescent was no where to be seen, which started to worry the male, and the fact that the Beta was on the rock instead of the alpha made him even more curious. Had something happened? Where was his mate? He kept wondering, his pelt itching with anticipation.

Dawn sat down beside her daughter while Faolan on the other. Comet looked worried, her daughter looked bored and the rest of the pack was anxious. One question bored through their minds, "Where is Crescent?"

The grey male sat down next to his friend's beloved Sol. He had to admit he had a slight affection for Sol but Ryka was his main 'crush'. Even if he was a very old subordinate, Faolan had only stayed because of Sol and her sibling/s. He probably didn't have a chance. He was a subordinate and Ryka was Beta soon to be Alpha judging by the small disappearances of Crescent. Faolan sighed, he was such a typical male.

Ryka let out a sigh, she had hoped for more wolves to join, but no matter to that there was a more important matter to talk about. "As yu may have notice I have taken the place of Crescent on the tall rock, and there is only one reason why." She stopped for a second trying to figure out how to bring the news forward. "Crescent has been either presumed dead or missing, so as the beta of Bison Pack, I will be taking her place." the new alpha stopped and let chatter rise among them. "I am free to answer questions."

Takoni lifted his head to stare in disbelief as Ryka. Crescent? Dead? How was that possible? There was still a chance she had gone missing similar to Storm, so perhaps there was some hope... But dead, that was insane.
The male wolf raised his voice, "how do you know this?" He barked.

Listening to Ryka speak, Comet let out a low growl and stood up from his spot among the crowd of wolves. "Dead?" he barked, in denial of the fact that his mate was really gone. "Just like how Storm was presumed dead? How do we know they aren't just eloping somewhere in the valley together?" the tall, lean male questioned, teeth bared and heart pounding. Cresent... she couldn't be dead, could she? And why in the Sky-Wolve's name did their alphas keep disappearing? Were they not a good enough pack?

Ryka expected the negative reactions, but didn't exactly know how to answer them since she still had questions herself. "We haven't seen a trace of her, she either left us or passed on with the sky-wolves, you may choose what to believe in." She barked, "so I will remain alpha unless she returns, I will also hold off on selecting a beta until we are sure of what has happened."

Takoni grumbled something under his breath but didn't argue anymore, Bison needed to stick with an alpha or Canyon Pack would start to see them as weak. And if they thought they were weak, that could lead to an attack.

Kyro walked into the den site, herbs dangling from his jaws when he realized he had missed part of a pack meeting. He quickly dropped the herbs off at the healers den and went over to sit by Dawn, his mate. "What did I miss?" He asked, glancing up at Ryka in confusion.

Chahta's auditories perked, "why would you assume they're dead? Maybe they're trapped somewhere, being held captive by some others wolves, Rouges maybe," she called out from the gathered crowd of canids. "Perhaps we could send out a patrol group and search for them." Chahta suggested. Another alpha gone missing? Impossible, there must be something going on.

"Crescent has disappeared. Ryka will be taking over unless she comes back." Dawn muttered to her mate. "Canyon Pac is going to think we are weak if we lose Ryka," The she-wolf's eyes glittered with fear as she raised her gaze to the new Alpha.

Faolan felt a sudden pull to comfort Sol but an urge told him that if he did Ryka may not approve. He loved the new Alpha but friends are family, so he tried to help by friendly nuzzling her. "It's okay Sol, Ryka will do her best."

Ryka glanced down toward a younger wolf, one she knew by the name of Chahta. "There were no scent trails, if she was taken, I can't risk sending out a scout party and putting them in danger. Crescent is smart, if she did get captured she'd of escaped by now." She finished, not revealing how long Ryka knew she had been gone.

Takoni snorted, he had heard enough. The warrior got to his paws, then without another word, swiftly exited the den site. He needed air, Bison Pack had yet another missing alpha and he couldn't process the information. No, he wasn't going to look for the past alpha, he just decided to do his part in keeping curious Canyon Pack wolves out, so he made a note to mark the western border.

"Will you announce this at the next Gathering?" Dawn asked cautiously even though she already knew the answer. If Ryka showed up instead of Crescent then obviously it would show that the former alpha died or went missing.
