(Dont ask about the title. People say hotter than Hades, so I figured that would be the canine version eheh..)
Lightning headed down to the old oxbow. He kept his head low as he made his way down the loping hills and through the tall grasses. The river by canyon territory wasn't all that deep and he was interested in a swim. He had already done his patrolling for the morning. It was less then a quarter to sun high and the heat was already getting to him. He panted as he took in the scents here and there, it would be a surprise to him if the whole of Bison and Canyon ended up there until sundown he figured. He looked around panting. He had announced the idea out loud to everyone, however he wasn't sure if anyone would follow him. They probably would follow Avikii in a heartbeat though, he thought to himself, a bit bitter. He reached the ridge that marked canyon and oxbow boundaries had met. He looked out across the wavy plains and just a stretch of land ahead was the oxbow. A curved river that flowed through neutral. The water was a deep blue and sparkled as the light of the sun bounced off it. He panted heavily, he was not only fatigued but hot as well. Despite his fur not being very dark, it was thick to make up for that. He shook out his pelt, a bit of fur flying around him, it was most definitely past shedding season, however the sudden spike in heat had drawn him to shed a bit more, not to mention the slight stresses he was facing.
Arrow suffered in camp, she may have gotten away with the river, but she never would be able to make it to the oxbow. She panted a bit, at least wishing she could be granted access to the river... Some water was better than none at all.

It was a particularly hot summer day and Avikii decided to make his way down to the Old Ox Bow, there was a small breeze but it was a warm one and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. The sun beat down on his dark black overcoat as he slowly trotted forwards, avoiding bigger sage bushes and rocks, tongue lolling. He saw the Ox Bow up ahead, its shimmering dark waters reflecting the hot sunlight above, he could also see a few dark figures who seemed to have his same idea.

302 slowly followed behind his alpha, he had heard his invite down to the Ox Bow and on a hot day like this and time to kill he figured it not a bad idea.

Takoni had been laying down by the Ox Bow for quite some time, it was cooler the closer to the ground you were and he took advantage of it, his paw tips just barely touched the cool water. Thankfully, he had a light colored pelt, sunlight got reflected away from him but he could still easily feel the heat. Takoni heard approaching pawsteps, he lifted his head, scanning the small clearing by the water, two pairs of dark ears could be seen over the grasses.

Ryka quickly went towards the old ox bow, she was panting pretty hard considering bison pack didn't have much of a forested area so there was less shade. But shade was the least she wanted right now, she wanted to feel the cool embrace of deep water. She continued forwards, careful of where she put her paws. Looking ahead she noticed that there were already a few wolves there, she couldn't scent if there were any other bison packs wolves since there was hardly a breeze.

(Bison pack is charred trees and ground what do you mean didnt have much of a forested area @ryka haha)
Lightning had soon enough made his way to the water's edge, he would have run to get there quicker, but the heat had him drained. He stumbled down to the oxbow, yelping slightly as the hot rocks burned into his paw pads. He didn't, however, mind the leap into the cool water. It was perfect, he stood there about ankle deep, wading in a bit further til he was knee deep and lapped at the water as it rocked back and forth up and down against his body, tugging at the strands of fur.

(Haha its ok I get it, I can't tell you for certain but bison may be on the old aspen pack territory where aspen pa k lived before bison merged, or they may be on their territory, I honestly couldn't tell you, you would have to ask storm..)
Lightning waded a but deeper into the water, he was a bit farther off from the other two. He hasn't a clue to their presence there.

Kaiser padded after the Alpha, her tongue lolling out of the side of her mouth. Her light pelt reflected more heat than it absorbed, but she was still hot. She kept walking in the soft grass, kept cooler to an extent. She quickened her pace as she reached the hot rocks digging into her paw pads, quickly running into the water.

Vena panted heavily, her dark pelt not being of much help in the hot day. Her tongue laid partially out of her parted mouth as she continued to walk into the almost breezless and arid land.

Avikii heard a splash a little ways ahead, he could see a few shadowy shapes through the grasses, but he knew they were definitely closer. He picked up his pace, he was too tired and overheated to care about how loud he was. He turned slightly, the grass getting shorter, he could see all the wolves that were here now. A few Bison wolves, and Lightning had beat him there. He slowed down, approaching the water at a calm pace no matter how much the hot stone burned his paws. The Canyon alpha stepped foot into the cool liquid, the fire on his paws immediately disappearing."

Kaiser wadded into the water, going as deep as she could without not being able to stand. She dipped her head under the water, letting the water cool her entire body.

Vena, who was overheated and slightly dehydrated walked into the water before flopping down into it, causing a decently large splash. She spazzes a bit, water filling into her nose. She sat upright after snorting, trying to get it out. She pressed a paw up to it, not exactly sure what she was doing.

Lightning glanced over at Avikii then to Kaiser and Vena. He flicked his tail and headed further upstream away from everyone. He pumped his legs back and forth as he swam against the soft current.

Avikii gave Lightning a side glance as he wadded into the cool water, he stopped moving when the water was lappung at his underbelly. The Canyon alpha leaned over, lapping up the cool water, it felt wonderful on his hot dry throat.

302 stopped at the side of the water, but the hot pebbles soon made him change his mind. He only padded as far as when the water was just about covering his paws.

Lightning didn't look at anyone, he knew his mood was infectious. He couldn't help it, with every look he felt his heart pound against his chest, butterflies in his stomach, and a crushing agony. He clambered up onto the bank, a fair distance from the others however still somewhat in sight.

Lightning glanced back, kicking himself inside for doing so. Avikii didn't know how lucky he was. He was Alpha, a huge territory, the pack was well fed and he was loved by everyone, and lightning meant everyone. He glanced at vena briefly and then to Kaiser, his gaze hesitated there before falling down to the water. He let out a soft sigh and lay in the water on the bank.

Avikii continued to watch as Lightning scrambled out of the water, he sighed, he wasn't sure what to do about Lightning's sudden personality change. He hoped it would pass soon because he was one of his must trusted of the pack. The alpha turned back and looked at Kaiser, and began to wade over to her. “Enjoying the water sunshine?” He grinned, a mischievous glint in his frosty eyes.

302 was bored, he wished Arrow was here, but knowing what would happen he thought better of sneaking her here. Bison pack would see her if anything and demand her back... That would have been quite the screw up.

Lightning stared into the water ahead, watching a small tadpole swim by occasionally. His ears flicked and swiveled around, he swore he could hear small frogs croaking as well. He didn't move a bit, sitting there and listening to them chirp without a care. His ears laid back as he watched the water, letting out a sigh.
