Open Wounds [OPEN - Finished]

Avikii had been outside the den site for almost the entire morning, and with three hares and a mouse in his jaws, he was satisfied considering the lack of prey. As the dark-coated alpha began to make his way back west to head to the den site, a scent slapped his nose. To his surprise he saw Leafa just a few meters away.

Just as he noticed the golden female, he saw another figure. This one was lengthy, and had a large build. Could it be? "Leafa!" He called, panic rushing through his veins. "Look out! Behind you!" He leapt into action, taking large bounds over rocks and brush as he sprinted towards the she-wolf.

Too late. Avikii watched in horror as a cougar slammed into her, he dropped the prey he was carrying and wasted no time to get into action. "Get out of here!" He screeched, "you dirty cat!" The alpha spat those words out as if they were worse than mange. Avikii took in all his weight, and ran right into the cougar's side at full force, receiving a headache in return.

Avikii heaved, hearing the cougar growl again he took it as a warning sigh to an upcoming hit. Sure enough, his dodge was too late, and the cat's huge paw came hurling at the side of his paw. He let out a hiss of pain as he was slammed to the side, it seeped from his cheek to his paws in an instant. He quickly got back on his paws, not daring to appear weakened.

"We need to drive it off," he mumbled to Leafa.

Avikii took this chance to run up to the beast's side, ramming his powerful jaws into it's haunches. He felt the warm tingle of blood flow past his teeth. Through a mouthful of fur he grinned with satisfaction. The alpha gave one last powerful bite, and then in a flash was backing up, blood ripping away from the cougar's tan fur and following his teeth. "Get going!" He hissed through a mouthful of fur and the red metallic liquid.

Avikii slowly looked behind him, catching a look from Leafa. It took him a moment to notice her injuries, but once he did he began to slightly worry. Her golden fur was stained red along her flank, and her muzzle of course where she had bit down on the cougar. He limped over to her, limping not because of a leg injury, jusy simply because he was light headed, his ears still ringing from the hit he received.

Avikii eyed her, an odd expression crossing his face. "I think the better question is, are you okay?" He threw back. How was she doing fine with such injuries? He had to get her to Elpis.

Avikii looked at her funny again, "let's get you back to the den site." He said, beginning to slightly worry. "Here, you can support yourself on my shoulder." He told her, hoping it would help. He had to get her to Elpis, to get the wounds healed. He knew now that she still needed quite a bit of defense training.

He huffed, "yes I'm fine, don't worry about me." He didn't care if she worried for him, he could care for himself, he was more concerned for the future of the pack. He felt her weight lean against him, and he began to move forward, making sure Leafa was supported.

Avikii lead the light-headed female into the den site, guiding her up the rocky slope. He glanced back at her, growing concerned at the sight of her still bloodied pelt. He turned forward again, now on the flat clearing of the den site. He scanned the area for Elpis.
