(OPEN TO: The Ruju Tribe)
Adairis stumbled around the meadows. She was growing rather tired and hungry.
She had only been a few days on her own, no more then three or four, but she found the traveling and scary sounds around her quite exhausting. It wouldn't be unreasonable to mention that she was also hungry due to the fact that the young pup did not yet know how to hunt for herself. She had made several improper attempts as she had watched her mother do, but the pup was hardly weaned, and still as clumsy as could be.
She huffed, sitting down on a gentle grassy slope, she felt herself sway in the wind, sway with the grasses as sleep tried to crash over her. As much as she wished to sleep, an odd scent of rotting carcasses drifted upon her like maggot ridden meat on a hot summer breeze or like a crow's half eaten rat, hot on a warm breath. It was disgusting, an undeniable scent of a lone carcass eater. She froze in fear, was it a fox like mother had warned? Was it another coyote, like the one mother had fought? Only her imagination could try to satisfy her need for knowledge, but it wouldn't be enough until she saw what came over the hill...
That, which would just so happen to be members of the Ruju Tribe...

Malikai trotted over a slight slope in the land, not really paying much attention to where he was going. He had planned on patrolling the land, so he hadn't really placed a specific location to head, so the dark muzzled male pretty much just wandered aimlessly.
That is, before a new scent wafted up to his nose. He perked his ears. Pack wolves? No, this scent was different, it didn't have the certain rank the pack scent had, and it certainly wasn't one of his own. Perhaps it was prey? He continued listing off random ideas, oblivious to the fact that it could be a loner. He padded onward keeping on high alert. Malikai was probably just a little too hopeful for prey, considering how rare it was in the open lands of these upland meadows.
Then he saw it, or should he saw her. A young wolf, hardly younger than a yearling, caught his eye. She didn't look like pack bait, they would never let their precious yearlings stray too far alone. He sneered at their petty ways. The lean male picked up his pace, all the while remaining quite on his paws, silently approaching his prey... The pup.

Adai faced the opposite direction of the male. Her tail flicked in disgust, "Ugh, that smell is getting closer, wheres it coming from!" Her voice was a small whine, meant for herself, but loud enough the stalking male could hear.
She looked around, her head flicking side to side, but still not catching a proper glimpse of the tall skinny wolf behind her. She pouted, sniffling, "I want my mum!" She wailed in a high pitched howl, oblivious to the surrounding ears she could be injuring in the least.

Malikai flicked an ear at the small wolf's comment on rogue scent, his lip twitched a little at the tone of her voice. The lean male pinned his ears back, and padded up closer to the pup. The dark muzzled male came up on her side, he had planned on being more intimidating, since the rogues didn't exactly favor strange wolves on their land, yet there was a certain tone to the pups voice, he couldn't find it in himself to intimidate her.
"Where's your mother?" He asked quietly, in a monotone voice. He didn't know what else to say really.

Adairis jumped, turning around to face the rouge male. Her eyes were wide with a terror, fearful the male might have interest in her own harm.
Her head kept low and her tail between her legs. "She is, uh, shes over out looking for food for me." Adai was quick to lie, hoping the thought of her mum nearby would be enough to keep him from dealing harm on her.
Her body shivered with the fear that he would figure out her lie or hurt her like those mangy coyotes wanted to. Her ears pressed against her head, her eyes told of the fear that she contained in her body.

Malikai, slightly surprised at how quickly she had been spooked, relaxed his muscles. This she-pup wouldn't, and couldn't do anything to him at all. He eyed her for a brief moment, quickly noticing the waver in her gaze.
"Okay, then why aren't you with her?" He played along with her lie, her shaking tone to her voice gave away the one thing she had hoped to cover up.

Adairis quivered slightly, "Well, I came over here, to uhm uh..." She broke off briefly to try and think up something.
'Come on Adai! You can think of something cant you?' She scolded herself fearfully as the seconds ticked by.
"Oh right, she thought she scented a fox ahead, so she wanted me to wait here so she could check it out." The young female's tail wagged, happy she had thought up such a clever lie. However, that moment was short lived once she took a glance back up at the male and shrank back in her fur with fear.

Malikai cocked a non-existent brow, then lifted his muzzle to scent the air.
"If there was a fox, why do I not smell it?" He questioned, watching as she shrank back once she looked at him again. Am I really that intimidating? He asked himself, perhaps it's just because she's a pup... He glanced behind him, making sure there wasn't any other wolf or animal around, thinking she was fearing something else and not him.

Adairis shrugged, "My mom probably has a stronger nose then you." She broke off from telling him about how much his fur reeked like some crow-food eater. Like a coyotes. She continued to avoid his gaze, shrunken far into herself.

Malikai's eyelid twitched slightly, flicking his tail in annoyance toward her comment. No lone wolf had a stronger nose than a tribe wolf.
Yet, he kept himself from going off on the young wolf. "Why don't you take me to her? If a fox truly was around it wasn't smart of your mother to leave you alone." He commented, his gaze lowering. He wanted this she-pup to give in and admit to her obvious lie.

Adairis took a step backwards, leaving paw-prints in the melting snow before herself. "I.. I don't know how far ahead she went, s-she might have chased it in who knows what direction," Adai told him fretfully.
If he found out she was an orphan, he might bring harm on her or maybe even eat her!

Adairis shook her head, "no, that's okay. I don't need any help."
She took a glance around her ears back, "I'm sure I will be able to find her on my own I mean, shes not that fa-" The pup let out a shriek as she slipped over the wet grass where it was iced over from the snow. She slipped down the hill, tumbling and bouncing all the way to its base.
The she pup was limp at the bottom of the hill, her body splayed out and her eyes hidden from view since her ears were flopped over them.

To his dismay, the small she-pup slipped and suddenly went sliding down the frosty hill. Malikai narrowed his gaze, pitying her for her clumsiness. Quickly, the tall male bolted after the pup. He wasn’t fast enough to catch her before she went sprawling at the base of the slope. Still running, the rogue wolf watched her tumble one final time before laying motionless across the flat ground.
In heartbeats he was at the young pups side, and unfortunately, he didn’t know exactly what to do. He looked up for a brief moment, glancing around, trying to catch a scent of anyone nearby, no luck. Lowering his head again to eye the female, he realized she was thankfully still breathing, so hopefully she was simply knocked out with minor bruises and scratches. He nudged her with his dark muzzle, urging her to wake.

Adai flinched to his touch, "please don't eat me!" She wailed, her body tightening. "Please don't hurt me! I don't wanna die! I just want my mum!" She sniffled burring her head beneath her paws.
She felt her whole body ache from the tumble down, her foreankle hurt a bit, perhaps not broken but pretty injured. She had hoped the male wouldn't have cared and left thinking her dead, but that obviously didn't work. It wasn't as if she had fallen on purpose though, she just found it her last resort. Now she wasn't sure she could do anything, anything but plead for his mercy.

Malikai took a step back, lifting his muzzle away from the pup. "You don't know where your mother is, do you?" He asked, wishing she'd just give him a straight answer. What she told him was what decided for her to come back to the tribe with him, or if he should just leave. The lean male debated on just leaving, he was getting rather bored of this pup, but all the same, she had just gone tumbling down a hill, he couldn't just leave her.

Adairis looked at him, her eyes were a pale glossy brown fringed with the fading pup's blue eyes. Her whole face twitched, each muscle rippled as if she were facing a difficult dream.
She held back every tear every emotion, trying to regain her pride, trying to regain everything that she was. It was slipping past her paws, and it broke like a beaver's dam when she wailed, "Shes deadddd!"
Her words faded out as her sobs were released in high toned whimpers, enough to attract any nearby predator to the sound of an easy victim.

Malikai looked at her with a shocked expression, surprised to hear such a blunt answer. At least she had told the truth, he thought, and took the chance to inch closer to the pup.
"Hey listen it's okay." He soothed, with a surprisingly soft tone for a wolf with his appearance. "If you want, I can take you to my tribe, I can get you cleaned up and fed." He offered in vain to get her to stop whimpering.

"Why would any wolf hurt a cub?" He asked, it was out of the question, the only thing they and the packs wolves agreed on - always help a cub or pup in need.
