Open to; Zakodiak - Avikii and Hediki [ONLY]
Swift waited at the camp entrance for Hediki. Her tail waved back and forth like a tree swaying in the wind. Her jaws were parted as she took in the fresh crisp mid-morning air. Each breath told her that there would soon be rain, but not in that day. The air was wet with the melting snow, the weather growing warmer. Swift could not contain her excitement. Finally, there would be warm weather! She was far more then overjoyed to see the cold weather fleeting from every extent of Slough.
She had decided that she would go out, she would go out on the first patrol at dawn [which ended up becoming more mid-morning since she slept in so long]. She was not too sure if a new dawn patrol had been created in her absence, but even still, she hoped that Hediki would still join her. The two had grown very close, and she had to admit to herself, she did enjoy his company. She thought Hediki as quite the valued friend [no matter how much it seemed to a few others that the two were growing far closer].
It was odd to consider it. The she-wolf had once despised the male with every inch of her being. She could not even stand the mere thought of him, but now. Now things were different. Her whole concept, her whole idea of his being was completely upsidown. It was no more then a matter of a few moons and the two had gone from despised opposites who were enemies to equals and friends. It was an awe inspiring concept. The two of them. Even as friends, it was still a concept hard to comprehend.

Hediki awoke quickly, the air held a warm breeze to it, making him more eager to get to his paws, up and out of the stuffy den of which had collected the airs growing damp warmth. He squeezed his way out of the common den, avoiding sleeping wolves on his way out.
Almost right away he noticed his friend, Swift, standing at the den site's outskirts. He let a wary smile cross his muzzle and his tail raise in an overjoyed wag. The young male trotted up to his friend, licking her cheek in a common friendly greeting that most wolves did when meeting up with one another.
"Isn't this warmer weather just great?" He started, assuming she was waiting for wolves to join her for a patrol, yet he didn't bother to confirm it, instead just starting up friendly conversation.

Avikii had watched Hediki move from the common den over toward Swift. The alpha had been up since sun rise, even got a patrol in between that time and now, he had just gotten back in fact and took a seat outside his own den. The older male had kept a keen eye on his daughter and the pale brown male, it was only recently occurring to him that the pair could possibly end up as a couple.
That thought didn't seem far off, probably not for anytime soon, but in the future yes. The thought had only just recently disturbed him. A pure daughter of a strong alpha pairing with a half-pack born from a prisoner? The way he put it sounded worse than it really was, but either way Avikii didn't like the thought of Swift being with Hediki.
So, that lead Avikii to get to his paws and slowly make his way over to the chatting lead warriors. "What will you two be up to?" He questioned in the most casual manner he could muster. "A patrol perhaps?" He added.

Swift was about to respond to Hediki, a broad smile spread across her muzzle as she began to nod. However just as soon as she were to answer and ask him to head out before anyone else could tag along, she noticed her father approach. Her smile faltered just slightly, its radiance of truth faded to a forced one. Her tail dropped just slightly and she nodded. She let out a sigh and spoke in a rushed tone.
"Yes, going out for a patrol. We are going to check the creek. We will be back before you know it. Leave it up to your lead warriors, you can trust us." She ensured him, trying to convince him to stay in case he wished to join or even send anyone after them. She quickly turned towards Hediki and nipped his ear softly, "come-on slowpoke!" She giggled. She wasted no time rushing out of the camp so her father could not argue with her. She just hoped that Hediki would follow her lead and not give her father any time to catch up with them.

Hediki smiled, snapping at her muzzle in response. He cast a small glance toward the alpha then back to Swift as he quickly followed behind her in an urgent fashion.

Avikii paused, about to respond when he realized the two were just leaving. He put a paw forward. "Of course I can trust you two..." He said warily, "perhaps I just fee like tagging along." He informed in a manner that would tell the two they wouldn't be going anywhere along together. So, Avikii quickly followed up behind them, no way in Sky-wolf's name would he let the two be alone, he already didn't like the behavior between them.

Swift grunted, turning around in her place. Her tail flicked just slightly with the annoyance that her plan had failed, "why don't you go get something to eat, or rest a bit. You look exhausted." Her tone was blunt and perhaps a bit cold. Her eyes bore an emotion she had never really held with her father before. She wanted him gone. Three was a crowd.
As she turned back the other way, she walked up to Hediki's side with a sigh. She just hoped she had done enough to tell him off so she could actually take some time to hang out with her friend. Alone. She walked close besides him, wishing to say a few things to Hediki. However, with the presence of her father nearby, she felt strained to keep her mouth shut.
The odd pause between his words that she had caught from him on her way out. It was not a short pause, but a moment that he picked his words carefully. The fact that there was even a pause at all, had left her to believe he was lying to her about that. She was perfectly capable of handling herself, why could he not see that? Was it because of that 'other Swift' he once knew? She may be untrustworthy, but that was no reason to treat her like a pup!

Hediki looked warily between Swift and her father. He didn't exactly want the alpha to come along but it wasn't his place to tell Avikii what to do, since he was in fact the alpha. He turned to brush his muzzle against Swift's, "don't mind him for now, I'm sure we can get away while he's focused on marking borders or something along those lines..." The young male paused. "Plus, we can always take a walk around the territory after every wolf has gone to sleep." He suggested in a whisper so the alpha wouldn't hear.

Avikii perked his ears, but said nothing more as he decided to lead his daughter and Hediki out of the den site.

Swift was uptight with a slight pent up anger at her father's stubbornness. At this point, it should have seemed almost obvious. So either he was just as stubborn as she was, or he was just flat out mousebrained. Yet, as Hediki approached her, his touch was almost a like a tranquilizer. She let out a deep breath and let herself relax. She smiled slightly in return, and licked his cheek in return.
She turned and followed after her father, hoping that such events as this would simply be a one time thing. Yet, her persistence to brush him off could have perhaps made her situation worse. Now that she thought more of it, her stomach turned. She could have just kept her mouth shut, and maybe just maybe she would have saved herself some time in the future. Yet, maybe not, maybe he was clueless. She wasn't very certain of the last one, but she really hoped that it be true.

Avikii wasn't stubborn. He could tell Swift wasn't happy with him tagging along with her and the other young male, but he had an important reason to stick with them and he wouldn't let his daughter tell him otherwise. He shot Swift a quick glance behind him as he lead the two younger wolves out of the little clearing, then quickly plastered his gaze back on the trail before him.

Swift nodded to Hediki and followed after her father alongside her close friend. She kept fairly silent as they took to the paths. Soon enough they got closer to the river, where if there were to be any rouges or loners, there would be a trace here. She walked over to mark one of the first markers when she caught a rather fresh scent. Luckily enough, it was Canyon.
Canyon? If there was already a scent marker so fresh, then... then a patrol must have already been sent out. Swift felt slightly annoyed that she had not been notified of this. Did Hediki know? Surely her father knew, he always seemed to be up by dawn. How he managed to be awake so early on a daily routine, she had yet to discover. Irritation prickled at her pelt as she walked over towards Hediki to ask him about it.
"Hediki," she said just loud enough to catch his attention. The loud roar of the rushing currents of the water in the stream nearby were enough to keep her words only for those in earshot. Those whom happened to be Hediki. "The posts have already been marked. Did you know about this?" She asked, wondering if this really were not a patrol and it were in turn something else. She hoped however, that it was not. If there were something that her father and her own friend had to trick her to do, it would not be a good something. She wondered if it was simply just her fathers way of keeping an eye on them, since it seemed that way due to how stubborn he was. Then again, she may be completely overthinking it all and neither of them knew about the patrol already being done. Yet, one would think the alpha would know such things, even if he did not attend. Scouts and warriors are supposed to report back after every patrol.

Hediki turned to glance at Swift, listening to her words. After hearing out what she had to say he raised his muzzle to the air, now knowing what he was looking for, it was easy to pinpoint the border marker. "You're right..." He paused, now glancing over his shoulder to look at the alpha, Avikii, who was shuffling about through the dry grasses. "I had no idea, I haven't been out yet today."
Turning back to Swift, he cocked a brow. "You think he's been here already?" Hediki asked in a hushed tone, carefully making sure Avikii wouldn't overhear. It was certainly an option, but the question was why? If Avikii had already marked the borders, if it was him, then why did he drag Swift and him back to the same border.

Avikii flicked an hear, catching on to Hediki and Swift's hushed voices from behind him, but they were too quiet for him to hear. Again, he knew Swift didn't want him here. At this point she was beyond irritated and it wasn't going to get better. If he wanted to keep an eye on the two of them he would have to do it more discreetly.
Lifting his muzzle away from the ground he turned to look at the pair of muttering lead warriors. "You know, I trust you two can finish up this patrol on your own, I'm going to head back to the den site if you don't mind." He knew they wouldn't mind, then without another word he turned and slowly headed back the way he had come, beginning to round a clump of sage.

Swift looked to Hediki with a bit of a confused look. Finish the patrol? There was not much to do since it had already been done, but the fact that her father was finally leaving left little concern in the least. She could care less now, allowing a smile to creep up onto her face as she looked over to Hediki to catch his reaction to the sudden change of events.

After a few heartbeats of padding away from Hediki and Swift, Avikii paused, standing in place. He stole a glance over his shoulder, the two of them were facing away. The alpha heaved a sigh, a part of him felt bad for this, but he wanted to know what was going on between the two lead warriors. He shuffled to the side, lightly leaning into a sitting position then eventually laying down altogether, he was hidden by a large sage bush plus the dry grass that poked out of the earth. He sat in cover, keeping strained blue eyes on the pair not too far off.

Hediki watched the alpha male leave for a moment before turning to Swift with a slight smirk. After Avikii left it felt like a straining weight had been lifted from his shoulders, something along the lines of 'he's gone, let loose' or something like that. He studied his friend for a moment. "Now that your old man is gone, we can have a bit more fun." He suggested in a light tone, wondering if the leaving alpha could still hear them, it was unlikely that he could.
Then with that he nudged her flank with his, leading her to the edge of the creek. The borders were already marked, might as well have some fun if they got dragged all the way out into the territory.

Swift grinned, tensions easily rising. Her worries and frown had never faded quicker then when she were with him. She knew of nobody she could have grown closer to. She knew of nobody she could have trusted more. She knew of nobody she loved as much as she did him. As a friend... of course. She smirked, playing along with his antics. She leaned up and nipped his ear and cheek in a playful gesture. She was completely oblivious to her father's lingering presence not only because he was downwind but also because the spray of the rushing river blocked out a large amount of scents.

Hediki stood at the edge of the water, grinning against the nips and teases Swift gave him. He cast a quick glance past her, realizing they were both pretty close to the shallow edge of the churning creek. A playful thought quickly crossed his mind, one that seemed to be quiet common as well.
"Swift," he said softly in a way to innocently catch her attention, his eyes gleaming in the mid-day sunshine. Then with one quick movement, placed an outstretched fore paw behind her and bumped her with his flank again, sending her into the shallow creek.

The small she wolf paused her prancing only a moment to look over at her companion. She smiled, a smile which quickly faded into a blank stare glittered with shock. She had hardly a second to think as she felt her body being knocked over. Her paws flew over her face, and her body just slightly swiping past the ground before she got dragged under by the gravity of the rushing waves. She had hardly enough time between her yelp of shock and taking in a breath of air before she plunged into the icy cold waters of the overflowing river. Swifts eyes were wide with terror as she surfaced again, coughing out a bit of water, but as she gasped for air, her lungs only filled with more water. Her body felt tired as she tried to fight the pounding waves of the river.Her body being dragged further and further downstream as the waters picked up pace from mediocre to deadly. The many rocks and stones and twigs and sticks did not help the matter. All the debris which had collapsed due to the snowy season had been dragged into the river when the ice melted. Swift could feel her body being beaten and bruised as she repeatedly got dragged beneath the water's surface. That would be... if she were to survive... the last one to fall into the river, well the poor young male did not survive.

Hediki's eyes widened with shock, in his clouded mind and underestimation of Swift he had practically sent her sailing to her death. The cocky brown male had forgotten that her legs were much shorter than his...
Within the next heartbeat he was sprinting down the sidelines of the speeding water, of which carried Swift along with it. He kept his eyes glued on her, new regret hitting him every time he saw her head go under the surface, fearing she wouldn't come back up. She just had to hold on a bit longer, they were approaching a flatter area of water where it slowed down just enough, but for a short amount of time. It would be a tricky save, but no way was he going to let his stubbornness kill her.
The slightly calmer area of water was coming up quickly, Hediki pressed harder, his paws drumming on the water-soaked earth, he was now in front of Swift, only daring to take his eyes off her to see where he was going.
Then without thinking, he swerved sideways, darting forward and plunging headfirst into the swirling creek. He gasped at the waters power and instantly felt guilty again. He turned his head to the side, catching a glimpse of grey fur, fast approaching. He readied himself, his paws just barely scraping the bottom on the creek. He was going to get her out.

Swift felt the water push its way into her lungs, she did not know what to do. She felt her body growing tired quickly as she tried to push her way to the surface time and time again. Her body felt bruised from the rocks and twigs which had been swept by the current like herself. She could hardly keep conscious at this rate as she flowed down the river faster and faster towards Hediki. She was next to powerless as the river engulfed her, weak compared to the overflowing river's strength. She kicked at the water, but her muscles felt more and more exhausted with each passing second. She blinked against the cold water, dragged under again, perhaps this was it. Perhaps it was time.

He could see Swift growing closer, time seemed to slow down as Hediki prayed he could catch her in time. Finally she swept by close enough for the young male to reach out with his muzzle and snap onto her scruff. Her added weight pulled him along with her for a brief moment before he was able to regain footing on the loose pebbles under his paws.
Huffing with strain and trying not to swallow too much water he pushed through the swirling current get he could, loosing paw holds as he moved along, eventually reached the edge of the creek. He could feel the pebbles turning to mud and that helped him keep himself balanced.

Swift exhaustively tried her best to help. Yet, her attempts were ultimately useless. As Hediki could touch the ground, she was still all too small to feel it underpaw right away. Her legs kicking away at the water in an utterly futile way. She coughed and gagged on water as she tried to bring air back into her lungs. Her eyes were half closed with the new exhaustion that had quickly overcome her.

Hediki's tongue lolled out of the side of his mouth as he gave his best efforts in pulling Swift onto the shore. Once he was sure they were both safe and far away from the side of the creek he flopped to his side, flank rising in falling as he heaved gulps of air.
"Swift..?" He croaked, then cleared his throat. "Swift? Are you o-" He was cut off by the sound of heavy paw steps drumming nearby.

Avikii had seen everything. He of course, never left the two, but had been lounging nearby when a loud splash, followed by a yelp, caught his attention. However, he wasn't up quick enough from jumping into the water before Hediki, so instead he followed along the shore line, out of sight, but of course he had readied himself in case Hediki was too weak to help Swift on his own. The alpha was rather surprised to see the young brown male pull it off on his own.
However, that wasn't an excuse for nearly drowning his daughter.
The male came to a hault at the sight of the pair, his cool blue glare was stiffened, the fur along his spine sticking up with either fear or rage, he couldn't tell.
